I’m perplexed

Nero Video: Slideshow with Hig Res Photos exports to HD video with very poor quality output

I have made a video using a couple of photos in hi resolution and an audio file and I have exported on several HD formats and the exported file has a very poor quality and I don ́t know why.
I have tried several HD formats and high bitrates but I get the same result.
This is the link to the youtube video:

The thing is that I have tried other supposed "lower" program as windows movie maker and a simple exportation in 1080p MP4, with it ́s easy to configure parameters gives me awesome results. I don ́t understand where the prolem is.
Could you help me with this

  • The settings on the Youtube video you posted show a maximum resolution of 480p. So I assume that you need to export your video again from Nero Video with 1080p settings. Please let us know if this works for you.

  • I’m unsure
I don ́t know why youtube set a quality of 480p maximum. I have uploaded another fragment of the video and 1080p is available, but you can see the colors of the video...they are awful, the same as the original video exported inmy pc folder. I ́ll attach photos of the output settings:

This is a fragment of the video created with the nero video settings in the above photos: 1080 x 1920 MP4

and this fragment was created with the windows movie maker:

(the result are much better than what I got with Nero Video. Could you help me with this, since I think nero video should be far more functional and useful for me... than the windows movie maker...)

    Thank you

  • Hello Alberto,
I wonder if you change the fps setting to 29.97 if it would look better?

You might need to switch your recording format options of the project to NTSC to be able to get the setting to 29.97 in the export mpeg4 configuration.

  • Hi Alberto,
could you please check the movie options of the project also use 1080p?

And maybe don't use hardware acceleration during output.

thank you very much!! This was it. I changed the movie options on the upper part of the movie timeline.

I think that this feature could be corrected in future versions of the program,... maybe if "export" options overrid the "movie options" menu...or maybe if a banner appeared encouraging to change the movie options when "movie options" where contradictory with the desired output parameters.... I bet I ́ve not been the only one to have this problem. And it was very frustrating.

    Thank you very much

  • Hi Alberto, which Nero Video have you been using 2016,2015,2014,12...?
Because in my Nero Video 2016 the movie settings will adapt automatically if I add a high res photo to the timeline first thing. Please let me know.

  • Alberto,

It would help if these hints were in the documentation. However, this automatic setting of the resolution is not mentioned. In fact, the manual is not even discussing Nero 2016:

    "4.1.1 Movie Options Window
In the Movie Options window you can set up all settings for the content area.
When you click the Make > Movie or Slide Show button in the Content screen, the Movie Options window is opened automatically before the video editing screen is displayed according to the chosen settings.
In the video editing screen, you can reopen the Movie Options window to change the current setting options by selecting the Movie Options entry from the Options menu in the header bar. Please consider that the content in the content area is adapted to your changes.

Moreover, it appears that the settings do not "adapt", since with an initial setting of "TV Widescreen", the setting is changed to "HDTV Full HD" no matter the resolution of the picture:

Also, note that if the Movie Options dialog is opened while the timeline is still empty, and "OK" is clicked, this "adaptation" does not take place.

    Since5.5,

    Huh?
