I’m frustrated

Nero 7/ Nero 11 upgrade

I have installed Nero Essentials on My Dell windows 7. Today I got an error message after inserting a DVD to play, stating : Internal Error. Can not build graph. The Application may not be installed correctly." Windows error solution was to install Nero 11 update, so I did. I now get an error message the same through Nero 7, and Nero 11, I get "Cant read Disk" error. What should I do to correct this... and I already did a Nero 7 , clean and reinstall, which did nothing!

  • Hello Peter,

Please note that Nero 7 is not officially compatible with Windows 7, so we do not recommend to use this version of Nero under a Windows 7 system. We suggest you to uninstall Nero 7 completely.

I don ́t quite understand when did you get the message to install a Nero 11 update.
Do you own a Nero 11 version? Where have you purchased it? Was Nero 11 already installed on your system?

Can you playback discs with your drive using other applications?
Which Nero application are you trying to use? Nero MediaHome?

    Best regards,

  • Nero User,
I uninstalled Nero 7, removed it, cleaned it from my PC system. I then purchased Nero 2014 and Re-installed Nero 2014 on my Windows 7 PC. Nero 2014 seems to do everything, but play DVD movies. My Windows media starts to play a DVD movie, then freezes and locks up. The Nero home Media DVD player states: Can Not Read Disk, when I put a DVD movie in to play. Some how I think the recent Windows 7 Updates C++, and KB973685 , MSXML 4.0 SP3, have something to do with the problem.
The old Nero DVD player program stated the error message: "Can not create Graph" when playing a DVD movie format. I suspect Microsoft has some explaining to do, because My Windows 8 runs the same DVD fine with Cinamax DVD player. Even my old Windows XP dell DVD player will play the same DVD just fine.

  • Hi Peter,

You might try to check if yout graphics card is up to date. If it is not, please update it.

If it is up to date, and the problem still persists, will need to get in contact with some more information on your system.

Please send us a NeroSupport.cab. To do so, follow these steps:

    1) Click the following link to download the "GetSupportFiles.zip" file to your hard drive:

    http://www.nero.com/link.php?topic_id...

    2) Extract the zipped file on your hard drive using WinZip or WinRAR. Start the tool by double-clicking the EXE-file.
    -> The "C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe" window opens.
The tool may take several minutes.
You can track the single steps in the displayed window.

    3) After the tool has successfully run you will find a file named "NeroSupport.cab" on your desktop.

    4) Please send us this file as an e-mail attachment.

    5) Please enter Nero Forum in the e-mail subject and send us the NeroSupport.cab file, together with the link to this Forum Topic to the following e-mail address: techsupport@nero.com

    Thanks and best regards,
    NeroUser

  • I’m unsure
    Dear Nero Tech,
I emailed a copy of the Nero Support Cabinet File, to: Techsupport@nero.Com
with ref: #480307 with forum reference, and case #480307 as requested.
The reference # 480307 was assigned last week by Quoc, a Nero tech Staff. As I stated earlier, The Nero 2014 seems to do almost every thing, but play DVD movies on my Windows 7 Dell Computer. @ weeks ago I updated the Drivers for the ATI Radeon, VisionTeK, 3450 DMS59 B2 PCI graphic card installed on the Windows 7, Dell computer.
    Thank You
    Peter Cornwell

  • It's not recommended to post the .cab file in the forum since it may contain things like serial numbers.

Open Nero MediaHome and click on the Market. Is the Nero MediaHome DVD Pack plug-in shown as installed?

  • As the last Tech dept. suggested: I attempted to uninstall Nero 2014 and clean every thing Nero off my PC again. I went to Control panel, right clicked uninstall Nero 2014, it began to uninstall , then error message; Can not find uninstall wizard, then, fatal error, unable to uninstall Nero 2014. Then it jumped to Nero web site, with a message, sorry we are unable to uninstall Nero 2014, Fatal error 2014, error, 1730, you must be an administrator to remove this program (BS, since I was logged in as the administrator !) contact technical support.
So now Nero 2014 appears to be all cleaned off the computer, off program files, common files, user files, et. but still listed as installed in the control Panel, program files; Nero 2014,-15.0.06800.....281MB, and Nero inf.
I can not get this off my PC ? Nero 7 did the same thing, but it took a clean up tool to remove it!... So what now? Windows 7 restore will not go back past this afternoon, so I can not get it off that way.
    Please help.

  • Yes, the Nero life saver program removed the remnants of Nero 2014 from my system. I used a reg cleaner and I have been doing a system check to make sure there are no registry Nero entry's. I have not re- installed Nero 2014 yet on my PC. I am creating back-ups and restore points first.
One of your tech's named Quoc, suggested after doing all the fixes and cleans, to then re- install Nero 2014, then go to device manager, uninstall my DVD, then reboot! Is this advisable? Can your tech dept double check this before I do this
    Thank you
    Peter

  • Peter- it looks like none of tech support people saw your post this morning. I don't see any problem in doing what they asked. When you reboot, Windows will detect and reinstall your drive.

  • Up-Date,
Reinstalled Nero 2014, same error: "Cannot read Disk" (DVD Disk). Tried every thing! Nothing worked.........so took it off again, probably for good! cleaned up PC,
reinstalled Nero 7 again, every thing workd except Movie DVD's .Got the same old message in show time:"Cannot create graph. This error, I believe is caused when Windows 7 updated MSXML 4.0 parser, I think it is screwing up the video card so it cannot create a graphic image from a DVD player. Microsoft Windows trouble shooter, suggested it was a problem with the ATI Radeon 5450 video card. So I up dated the drivers. Microsoft Media player will now play DVD movies, but some of them stop and are choppy. The best ones to play seem to be "Large Screen Formats" -they play much better. I updated Visio C++ 2014, Nero started to play then, stopped and gave the same old message _Cannot create graph, program may be installed incorrectly". So I used Microsoft Fix it- Microsoft could not Identify the problem or fix it using this tool.
    What now?

  • You should pass this information on to tech support. They won't support you in regards to v7. Run the v7 InfoTool. What is your version of Burning Rom? Also, under the Drive tab, are there green checkmarks for the DVD read capabilities?

  • This is the reply I got from Nero! I will not destroy my operating system doing this. This Is NOT recommended by Microsoft. All we need to do is get Nero 7 to play DVD movies again.
This was sent to me 6-24-2014

    "Hello,

If you still have Showtime installed, try enable/disable hardware
acceleration. Open Showtime and then right click on the screen, go to
Options. Under Options, go to Video and try enabling or disabling
    hardware acceleration.

If problem continues, clean out Nero and uninstall the video drivers so
that it uses the generic drivers. Uninstall MS Visual C++, MS XML, and
MS .Net Framework. After they have been uninstalled, reinstall them and
then reinstall the graphic drivers. Also reinstall MS DirectX.

If this still does not resolve the issues, I think your best option is
to do a fresh reinstall of Windows because I'm not sure what else could
be causing the problem at this point.

    Best wishes,"

    This is ridiculous solution! Peter

  • Hello Peter,
I checked your e-mails with TechSupport, but couldn ́t find any answer suggesting you to reinstall your system. The last e-mail sent by TechSupport suggested you to uninstall Nero 7, reinstall Nero 2014, and send us a new generated TechSupport.cab file.

Accroding to what you reported, it seems to be a problem with your drive, the player, as Nero MediaHome doesn ́t play the DVD, and Windows Media Player crashes.

I saw in your old NeroSupport.cab that you have two drives on your system, correct? One doens ́t allow the playback of DVDs, it is just a CD writer/player: HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8483B.
For your other drive DVDRW 20X20X12X we didn ́t get much information, but according to the Infotool it should allow you the playback and burning of DVDs too . The problem might be on the drive itself.
What happens if you open Nero Burning Rom? Can you select this drive under Choose a recorder?
Make sure that you install the latest drivers and firrmware for this drive, maybe this helps?

Can you use this drive to playback DVDs at all? And to burn?

    Best regards,
    NeroUser

  • Dear Nero User,

Today, 6/25/2014, I once again removed Nero 7 from my Windows 7 operating system. This was the first time I got the remove/install program to take it off my PC without an error. After surveying my operating system I discovered remnants of old Nero 7 and 2014 files on my PC.; Namely in files: C:\users\ name\App data\roaming... , C: Users\name\App Data\Local\Nero... C:\Program files\Common Files\Nero.....(This file I had to rename before I could remove it! ) ..Remote control, DS Filters and other system files. I am removing them all, used all the Nero clean-up tools to verify, and doing a system check before attempting to re-install Nero 2014. I feel my operating system is polluted with old hidden Nero Files from 2 previous install attempts. , so I want to make sure they are ALL gone. I also used a DVD tool check on Disk balance/level speed and playability of the DVD, and it checked out -OK. The Media play plays better with out Nero7 on the PC system. The DVD are starting to run faster and not skip. The registry cleaner removed 1,255 old Nero registry errors on my PC. Since I purchased Nero 2014 and Nero 7 is out dated, it makes sense to reinstall Nero 2014. I even updated the video card, and DVD drivers last week on my system.

I hope I removed every bit of the old junk off the PC.

    Thank You,

    Peter
PS: The Windows Media DVD player, plays, copies almost all media, burns data disks and DVD-R, MP-3 Mp-2 and other formats

  • If you uninstall v7 via control panel, there's no telling what kind of problems you might encounter later since it doesn't use a Windows installer/uninstaller. You would use the Nero General Clean Tool to uninstall it.

I don't see where you answered NeroUser's question about Burning Rom.

Also, you mentioned installing the DVD drivers. Did you replace the drive firmware? Some drives also use drivers but most of them use the generic Windows driver.

  • Wither,
    1. Nero products CAN NOT be uninstalled by Windows 7 Control Panel! It has to be with-in The Nero Set up Program.
    2. Burning Rom DVD -answered ! Yes it works - see comment above,
    3. They are Windows 7 & updated drivers CD/ and DVD drives

  • 1. I can uninstall versions 10-14 of Nero from Win 7 using the Windows Control Panel, if so desired. Of course it references the Nero .msi for uninstall. If you're referring to left over registry entries and files on the hard drive, I can find such entries and files for a slue of Windows software I have uninstalled from Control Panel. All versions of Nero from v9 and earlier are uninstalled using the Nero General Clean tool.

    2. It wasn't obvious in reading your response.

    3. The firmware is part of the physical drive and updates are obtained either from the drive vendor or, for a laptop, from the laptop vendor support page. Of course, there's a ton of driver software out there that will provide it, at a price.

Hopefully, tech support can resolve it for you.
