I’m frustrated

NeroBurningROM 2015. Audio files arranged in error alphabetically. Track #s of audio files ignored by NeroBurningROM 2015.

Nero Burning ROM 2015 ('NBROM2015') does not recognize Track #'s of my audio files when copied into the Disc Content area of the Selection Screen. These audio files are my own original songs. The songs are not from a retail Audio CD that would likely have a ‘Gracenote’ reference. When I copy my songs to the Disc Content area NBROM2015 simply arranges the audio files in alphabetical order. I assigned Track numbers to each of the songs in the Properties menu of the mp3 audio files (Alt+Enter). I've studied pages 41-49 (specifically page 42) of the NBROM2015 manual. I experimented with those instructions but nothing seems to work to ensure the songs are in the order of the Track #s. My question is: How do I fix the metadata of each my songs so NBROM2015 recognizes the Track #s without the involvement of Gracenote? My OS is Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. [I posted the image twice in error as there was no confirmation my 1st uploaded image was accepted after the upload finished. It felt like the 1st upload did not happen. Now I know that's how it works for future submissions. My apologies.]

  • Hi Michael,
In Burning ROM, I think the way to alter the order in the compilation is to drag the tracks over one by one in the order you want.

If you give that a try ... can you advise if that makes a difference for you?

  • Hi Lucky Phil,

Thanks for responding. I tried what you suggested with different compilation types (UDF, Audio CD, Audio Jukebox). My first try worked temporarily but then some unknown automatic background process occurred that changed it (i.e., without my intervention) from Track # sequence to Alphabetical sequence. While working on this project I had to leave to do unrelated activities. I'll try again today and get back to you with the results. If you have any other ideas please let me know. I sent an email to Nero's tech support in Germany yesterday. If they respond I'll post it in this area. Your help is appreciated.

    Hi again Lucky Phil,

I said I would get back to you so here's what happened.

This is what I tried to do to solve the problem:

    1) I installed my earlier version of the burn program from NeroPremium7 on the Win10 OS mentioned above. As expected, I had the same wrong alphabetical results. Sometimes an earlier program of the same software will work as desired; but not this time.

    2) Then I installed the burn program from Nero2015 on a different PC, a Toshiba laptop running Win Vista Premium 64bit. No luck there as well. But at least by doing this I cancelled out Win10 being the source of the problem (I hope).

    3) I went back to Win10 in File Explorer and assigned (again) sequential numbers in front of the name of each song; i.e., '01 Black Window', '02 Talk With Us', etc. Nero2015 Express accepted the songs in the order I needed within each of the 6 folders in the Audio JukeBox compilation. I tested this audio jukebox copy on the stereo player in our car and it worked. A weird unexpected result with this was the player in our car didn't display the sequential numbers in front of each song this time! Several days ago a previous copy of the same folders and songs displayed the numbers in front of each song! So weird ........ as I didn't do anything different.

The problem is not really solved and what a huge time waster this has been to do a work-a-round!
Why isn't the Nero software designed to read the track #'s in the Properties of each audio file from a person's hard drive or flash drive?
Every time I have to do a similar project of original music I'll have the extra task of putting sequential numbers in front of each song.
This doesn't sound right to me.
There must be an answer to this that points to a software switch to fix this.

  • Hi Michael,
It would be handy to easily change the sort order ...

If doing a data CD ... for a player that can deal with data music files - such as .mp3 files ... instead of a music CD - you can change the options, but for a music CD it does seem to be limited.

If doing a data disc, this method below would work (but it doesn't solve your requirements for a music CD) :
