No audio - please help

Hi, I was hoping somebody can help me. I recently purchased an external DVD/CD writer that came with Nero 12 Essentials trial version. I couldn't play a DVD as it said had to download two apps, each costing £4.99. I downloaded both of these and the DVD is now playing but with no sound. I was hoping someone can assist me on how to get the sound working as well as the picture. Thanks

  • Have you checked the settings at options - audio?
    E.g. you should only select hdmi, is you have a hdmi monitor with integrated speakers

  • I think what Jens is telling you is that if you go into the Nero MediaHome Options and select Audio, choose "use Windows audio settings".

  • Hi both, thanks for the replies. Yes, I went on audio and selected Windows Audio settings rather than Dolby surround or HDMI. Are there any licensing issues? Other people seem to suggest I need to purchase a full Nero home suite?

  • I'm not sure why you needed to buy two apps to play a commercial DVD. You should have only needed the Nero MediaHome DVD Pack.

    Don't get mad at me for this but I need to cover all the bases- Do you have the volume turned up in Nero MediaHome and on your system?

    Maybe there is a sound restriction? Maybe you are trying to playback DTS Sound? Do you receive a message indicating that you need a further App?
    I checked our database, looking for your purchases, but couldn ́t find any purchase done with the same e-mail address you use to log in the Forum.

    Please make sure you send the order confirmation numbers for your Apps, a NeroSupport.cab file, and details on the DVD you are trying to playback.

    Click the following link to download the "GetSupportFiles.zip" file to your hard drive:

    Extract the zipped file on your hard drive using WinZip or WinRAR. Start the tool by double-clicking the EXE-file.
    -> The "C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe" window opens.
    The tool may take several minutes.
    You can track the single steps in the displayed window.

    After the tool has successfully run you will find a file named "NeroSupport.cab" on your desktop.

    Please send us this file as an e-mail attachment.
