Please update Youtube video length limiter; seek a good working format for Youtube.

Youtube allows uploading video > 15 min. Nero Video 2014 hasn't caught up with it and is still limiting export length. Can this be updated?

Exporting myself in .mp4 resulted in an unsupported file format after hour long exporting and hour long uploading :( What's the right format setting for youtube?

Thanks.

  • Currently we've got no information about such a change at our products.
Thank you for your suggestion we have forwarded the feature-request to our developers.

To choose the format please be aware of following:
    1. youtube supports videofiles using many videofile formats.
You can find details at the upload-help at youtube.
    2. such an uplaod supports several resolutions but the chosen ratio and the duration of the video will affect in size of the videofile, the output filesize and the needed time how long it will take to upload it within your internet connection.

At our testlab we tried the format mpeg-4 and the profile mpeg4 and AVC format/profile. On both videofiles it was possible to create/export them and manually upload to youtube which was longer than 15 minutes without problems.

Youtube had to process the videofiles after the upload in both cases which took a few minutes.

  • Thank for the reply.

I first used format, MPEG-4 and profile, MPEG4. It resulted in ~912Mb in size. After uploading, youtube deemed it to be an invalid format. Then, I tried MPEG4 3GPP, which results in ~296Mb in size, with acceptable video quality for youtube. Youtube accepted the later one. I don't think size matters. Last year, I uploaded a video of similar time length and 650Mb in size successfully, which was created using Nero 12. I forgot what profile I used. (Is there a way to tell what profile was used based on the exported .mp4 file?) I don't know how you can resolve the difference between you and youtube on MEPG-4/MPEG4. If you need me to try anything, please let me know.

Next time, I'll try AVC format/profile.
