Purchasing Nero 12

Dear Nero AG!

My name is Ferenc Deák, I'm writing from Eger, Hungary.
For long time ago (since 2005) i'm using the trial Nero softwares, but there one edition, which i want to purchase. This version is the Nero 12 (Nero-12.5.02100.exe), and i have a special request for you: is there to be any possibility of a serial/license for this product (not free of course)? Thank you for the reply.

Sorry for my terrible english.
Best regards:

Ferenc Deák

  • Hi Ferenc, we only sell the latest version (and sometimes the current version minus one). Maybe you can find a used Nero 12 box product on Ebay. The serial number will work with any Nero 12 version number.

    • You should only buy a boxed version which has never been opened. Do not buy a serial number.

Out of curiosity, what was the determining factor for buying v12? In my estimation, a better choice would be v2015. I don't know if you can use amazon.com where you live, but this is a good price-
      https://www.amazon.com/Nero-2015-Plat...
and, to my knowledge, my Amazon doesn't doesn't tolerate vendors who misrepresent what they're selling.

Note that the price for the older versions is often more than the new versions. Don't know why that is.
    • Wither1, thanks your reply. The answer is simple: i tried all the trial Nero versions (from 6 to 2018), and my oppinion is the best one the 9th, but this version does not support the Blu-Ray burning technology yet. The next two release (10 and 11) contain some bugs, and only the 12 is, which is perfect for me (not too large setup, and after install doesnt required too much space on C: drive) :D In my second notebook is a 2010'-s released Lenovo, and the 12th version is still running on those config without too much loading time. Yesterday evening, after Since5.5's reply i visited and searched on it for some websites (amazon, ebay, etc), but as i 'm living in Hungary, the shipping cost is more expensive than the product (the boxed Nero 12, only serial not interest me) (for example Nero 12 price is 25 USD, but the shipping is an other 25-30 USD)

But it is possible that the Nero 10 will be the winner for me.

The boxed set you are looking at doesn't appear to be v12 Platinum, which you need to activate the Nero Blu-Ray Player. You also need Platinum if you want more than the basic effects, templates, etc. in Nero Video. Of course, that's normal for any version of Nero that comes two different ways (v10 and later).

Nero ShowTime in v9 will play blu-ray discs but only if one buys the Nero Blu-ray plug-in. It's no longer available.

I consider Nero Vision/Video in v10 and later to be better than v9. Note that v12 has its own set of problems. I think a few may have been fixed in later versions but not all of them were. Obviously, whether or not they cause a problem for you, would depend on if you're doing something for which a problem exists.

The Nero Blu-ray Player was discontinued, starting with v2016. In the forum, us volunteers suggest something like the free Leawo Blu-ray player for people who have v2016 and later.

  • Wither, my friend, you misunderstand me: i don't need the Blu-ray Player, just the burner technology that i can make writing blu-ray disks. But I appreciate your helps :) Meanwhile i found a Nero 11 Platinum Box edition on a german webshop, and i ordered immediately :D Problem solved :D
Thank the helping words everyone! :)

  • Sorry I misunderstood. I though your comment referred to playing Blu-ray.

The ability to burn to Blu-ray disc is, to my knowledge, available in every version of Nero. It doesn't have to be a Platinum or equivalent version.

Let me know how the v11 turns out.

  • Nothing problem, i know, it's about my terrible english :)
No, the Blu-ray burning technology was available since the Nero 11... The Nero 10 can make to create AVCHD fileformat, but could not to write bluray disk, just DVD.

  • Nothing wrong with your English.

You can burn to blu-ray discs in v9 but only as an ISO or data disc. If one wants to burn a blu-ray video, one needs the plug-in I mentioned earlier.

I have no problems burning blu-ray video in v10.

OEM versions of Nero software likely won't have the option to burn blu-ray video or AVCHD-Video since one needs to purchase a license to use the associated file formats and most OEMs won't pay that fee. They also probably won't pay the fee for mpeg-4.
