title change?

I am trying to burn an audio cd. The titles of my wav files are: gd89-09-29d1t01; gd89-09-29d1t02; gd89-09-29d1t03, etc. When I drop the files into nero, the title to all files is changed to 09-29d and they are always out of sequence. How do I keep the original (and correct) title of the track? This is very frustrating.

  • You're getting a medium error during the burn. In these cases, we recommend trying a different disc, a different batch of discs or a different brand of discs.

Is there only one file out of order?

Bummer, I have tried 2 different types of discs. Can you suggest a brand/type that generally works with Nero 2014 Platinum? I didn't have these issues with the same discs before I upgraded.

Is there only one file out of order? Yes, but my main concern is the title change. I could put it back into correct order if I could see the correct titles before I burn.

    Thanks for your help!!

  • The type or brand of disc to use has nothing to do with Nero. It's a burner issue. Believe or not, it's not that uncommon.

Before going out and buying a bunch of discs, have you checked to see if you have the latest firmware for your drive. If you have a laptop, go to the vendor support website. If you have a PC, check the drive manufacturer's website.

I suspect the file out of order is the last one. Is that correct? If so, that's because of the algorithm used for sorting. The sort order is by the first character, then the second character, etc. So it's normal to have 0-9 in the correct order. However, the last one is "10, which starts with a one. In that case, the sort will be 0, 1, 10, 2, 3...... If you had 11, it would be 0, 1, 10, 11, 2, 3....

  • Thanks again for your help. The above makes sense. The tracks are numbered 01, 02, 03, 04...10. I think the problem may be how I drag them over.

I need to get to my original problem/question. How do I stop Nero from changing the title as illustrated in the screenshot? If I can see the correct title, I can rearrange the order before burning.

    Thanks!!

  • The obvious way is to delete the hyphens.

First, I think it's interpreting the first data (g....) up to the first hyphen as the Artist.

The other potential way is to get the actual names of the file. Click on a file in the compilation and right click. Select "Get Metadata". Is Gracenote able to find the actual name of the file? I don't think it will but one never knows.

  • It is not pulling all of the info between the hyphens, so I wouldn't think the hyphen is the issue.

  • That's the standard form for naming recorded concerts. Unfortunately, it would be easier to download different burning software than to rename all of my files. I guess I just don't understand why Nero is changing the name fo my files.

  • I explained what I thought it was doing. The ordering algorithm is standard for Windows programs. You're welcome to ask tech support about it if someone like Mister_M doesn't jump in.
