  • Are you using a discrete graphics card or integrated graphics?

If you have a graphics card, check at the manufacturer's website for the latest driver. (If you have a laptop with a discrete graphics card, check at the laptop vendor's support website).

If you have integrated graphics, you might do the same thing or reinstall it's driver.

When you get a BSOD, there should be a file listed at the bottom of the screen which shows what's causing the problem. Can you get that?

  • There are so many reasons for the error 50 you're getting. It's basically saying it can't find data it needs in memory. I don't know why it would do that for a cutting operation.

Although I'm skeptical, you could try reinstalling. That would be the least painful approach and it it worked, great.

In regards to the work you've created, what specifically are you talking about- .nvc?

    What is your operating system?

  • windows 7

I have work that I have been editing and i am not done yet making my documentary.

Yes. I believe that the saved stuff is ".nvc" or at least that is attached to the end of the files.

No I have not tried uninstalling & reinstalling yet. I am afraid to lose my ".nvc" stuff.

The cut tool seems to work properly after restarting the computer several times.

Now it is just the BSOD that is killing me.

  • salt,

Wow! I suppose your OS is something more than Home Premium? Have you written to techsupport@nero.com?

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libra...

The 32 bit versions of Windows desktop OSes are limited to 4 GB at most. Home Premium X64 is limited to 16 GB. The 64 bit Professional, Enterprise, and Ultimate all support 192 GB.

32 bit application software uses up to 2 GB of RAM (3 GB for large memory aware applications). More than 4GB of RAM can be useful if you wish to have multiple 32 bit applications running at the same time. 64 bit applications are useful for tasks that must access lots of memory (finite element analysis, video processing, etc.).

As RAM is relatively cheap at the moment, even if you waste it, you won't be wasting much money.

    • That means that a great many people are jealous! Tech Support takes a while - like 5 days. Then, they will ask for information such the below that I copied from another post. To save time, you might send the .CAB right away referencing this topic.

In order to analyze your problem properly, we require some additional information.

To get the installation log files, it will be necessary to manually collect them after the installation process. Start the Nero installation again.
The installation process will be logged and saved into a MSI log file. After the installation of Nero failed, open your Windows Explorer and enter in the address field %temp%. In the temp directory should be a MSIx.log (x for installationnumber) file. Please send us this log file that we can analyze the failed installation process.

Please also create a logfile with the help of the Getsupportfile. Use the following steps:

      http://www.nero.com/link.php?topic_id...

Extract the zipped file on your hard drive using WinZip or WinRAR. Start the tool by double-clicking the EXE-file.-> The “C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe” window opens. The tool may take several minutes. You can track the single steps in the displayed window.

After the tool has successfully run you will find a file named “NeroSupport.cab” on your desktop. Please send us both file as an e-mail attachment.

Additionally, we would like to point out some details of the “GetSupportFiles” tool. The following information will be gathered:

      - All available log files of different Nero applications.
      - System information gathered by the Windows tool “MSInfo32?.
      - Information on the installed DirectX version. For this, the Windows application “DXDiag” will be used.
      - The “SchedLgU.txt” log file. This file contains information on currently scheduled tasks (e.g. the JobScheduler in Nero BackItUp).
      - Extracts from the registry:
      a. Information on the settings with which Nero applications run.
      b. Information on how the CD/DVD drives have been installed.
      Please note:
If the “GetSupportFiles” tool crashes then simply start it again.
When the tool is started again it will automatically recognize the particular program that caused the crash. As a result, that diagnostics program will be omitted.

Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

      Best Regards

      Jenny

  • A reinstall should not affect the .nvc's. You could temporarily move them from the default location and then either leave them in the temporary location or move them back to the default location.

There is a hotfix for this problem in Win 7 but I would rather you try the reinstall first.
