Why is it burning as .CDA?! HELP!!

Everytime I try to burn an audio cd it keeps burning them as .cda files. I've tried burning MP3 and WAV and neither worked. In order for the cd to work in my car, shouldn't it be burning them as .wav files? How to I fix this? I've already wasted several cd-r's :/

    this is 100% correct.
An audio-cd does not have any files at all - the windows explorer displays audio-tracks as "dummy" cda-files
    CDA means "Compact Disc Audio"

  • Just some additional information. If you want the files to keep their original formats (mp3, wav, etc), you need to create a Data Disc.
The problem if you do this, is that your car stereo might not reproduce the disc. The Audio CD will work in your car if you make an Audio CD (cda files), but you cannot be sure that it will work if you create a Data Disc. You will have to check your car stereo ́s specifications to be sure. It needs to support these specific file formats, such as mp3 or wav. If you create a Data disc, files will be copied in the exact same format as the original ones. Nero will make a 1:1 copy of it. So if your car stereo doesn ́t support mp3 files, you will not be able to reproduce it.
