embedded content (javascript, video) doesn't display

Lots of sites include content, especially videos. These don't display in NewsBlur, even though they did in Google Reader. It's very obvious on a StellerIO feed (example), where a good portion of them are simply embedded youtube videos.

Let me take a look. I haven't noticed this, since I'm fairly sure I've seen some embedded content, but it's possible I missed it. (I'm not much of a video watcher, so that may be why I never noticed.)

OK, took a look. The first video in that feed is Catvertising, but the RSS feed has no content:

{'author': u'johnst172',
'author_detail': {'href': u'http://stellar.io/a/rCpL', 'name': u'johnst172'},

Not much I can do, save for embed the URL if I see that it links directly to a YouTube.

Okay, so maybe I picked a bad feed. Here's another feed- in fact, an often-followed one, where the videos don't load:

OK, went ahead and fixed this to include flash video. But it may have dangerous implications, so I need to be careful. Feeds are now able to inject JavaScript/Flash into the page (which is effectively what they are doing when displaying a video). This could get dangerous, but for the most part, all of your feeds should now show rich media.

Thanks for bringing this up.

If you get nervous you can use crosssite.xml (I think that's the file) and restrict to only whitelisted sites.

Is this still broken?

Youtube embeds end up with a blank box: http://cl.ly/image/3F1M0X3p3N2g

The original post contains a basic Youtube embed: http://kottke.org/13/10/the-most-diff...

RSS content looks ok:

630 yards. Par 3. Tee is accessible only by helicopter. $1,000,000 for a hole-in-one. Meet the world's most difficult hole of golf:

(via <a href="http://www.quora.com/Golf/What-is-the...>

Turn off SSL in settings and use http://www.newsblur.com, or allow your browser to show mixed content (see https://getsatisfaction.com/newsblur/... or https://getsatisfaction.com/newsblur/... or https://getsatisfaction.com/newsblur/... or ... you get the idea).

I have the similar problem, embeded video are not displaying in feeds, but as an additional data point, this only applies to Chrome, not Internet Explorer. Turning off SSL as metioned above fixes the problem, but obviously that's not ideal

Example feed here:

Some more info; as a temporary solution, if you click the shield button at the end of the Chrome address bar and choose to run the unsafe script, video will load but you have to do it every time.
