Items not staying marked as read

This may be a problem related to too many new users, etc, etc, but some of my feeds that are more active than others have had their items marked as un-read many times. For example, I'm currently looking at a feed where the oldest "new" item is from yesterday at 4:39am. I've marked this feed as read MANY times since then, but they keep coming back!

I'm seeing this same issue even today... with items in alliepape's blurblog showing up as unread repeatedly. (Always the same item, "garden hermit needed.")

There are a couple others as well. Nothing interesting shows up in the console.

Still happening. I can press j to read each item in this feed and then come back later and this item is unread again. See screenshot.

Is it happening immediately? If you hit 'r' to reload the feed, does it immediately come back unread? If so, do you see anything in the console? Is the mark as read call failing? What's the response?

If I hit r, it comes back as unread. I'm not seeing anything interesting in the console. (I clear the console and hit r and nothing happens.)

Here's that entry again. (Again that same alliepape blurblog entry.)

Here it is again with the console, marking it as read, moving away, and then moving back (switching from unread to all items, and then clicking on the alliepape feed again.)

I have items in the "shared stories" that won't stay marked as read, and have noticed that they all show up without an associated blog. In fact, I can predict which items won't stay read - if anything shows up without a blog, I know it will stick around forever.

Previously I removed the items by "training" using the title of the article, but the "train" option doesn't work for these items.

This has been a recurring problem ever sine I bought my NewsBlur account.

See screenshot below for the current items causing me problems:

I'm in your account and don't see any unread stories in All Shared Stories.

You're right, they've gone now - though they were there when I posted my comment!

New one today, again with the telltale "no blog name": http://i.imgur.com/iMugi9s.png

Nothing too interesting in the console (ignore the failure loading google analytics, I have it blocked): http://i.imgur.com/cM1iYjY.png

I had Chrome set to break on exception earlier for work, and when I pulled up Newsblur, it breaks at the following (didn't dig into it to see if that was from ga being blocked or more insidious): http://i.imgur.com/PaJ9a98.png

My Newsblur username is 'subbes'.

I've been seeing this with the following feed:

http://www.loc.gov/rss/music/concerts...

mark as read, insta-fetch, and the items will be unread again. The feed appears not to have changed for over 100 days.

I believe one symptom that causes this is a connection error of any kind. Newsblur seems very succeptable to connection errors especially on the iOS clients (for me). Story fails to mark read, and then the next time it reloads you have that deja vu feeling and it's because there was a connection hiccup and the few stories you skipped through fast didn't get marked.

Least that is what I'm seeing. That little pop up that says 'failed to mark story read'

Sometimes I have things that are dupe articles from multiple sources, so I next unread really fast, seems to do it the most there.

In this feed I have seen multiple items stay unread before: http://www.newsblur.com/site/3003802/...

Currently the feed has two items that are staying unread and it also has a bunch of HTML garbage after the content. Not sure if that is Newsblur or the source. The item names are: "Joe Girardi had enough of this game." and "9 years ago today, Derek Jeter went all out and delivered one..."

I have this happen with high regularity on the Android app (2.1.2) on a Galaxy Nexus with 4.2.2 OS. I will read an article from a site that's in a folder so I'm reading a bunch of articles from mixed sources. As I read the article and back out to the list view, the article is greyed out (i.e. marked read) and within 5 seconds it's back to an unread state. At some point, if I choose "Mark All as Read", the article will stay read.

I still observe this problem in some of my feeds. One of them is http://www.radikal.com.tr/d/rss/rss_7... (username: canpolat). Could you please fix this problem. It has been there for at least 5 months (according to the ticket date) and it really impacts the user comfort.

I'm seeing this as well and it's driving me crazy. I just marked everything as red and many of the same feeds came back as unread. I would say 90% of them are coming back.

One thing I just noticed. I could not "mark all as read", but if I went through each item one by one as if I read them, they go away. Hope that helps in a solution.

Never had a problem with this until 3 or 4 days ago, now stories (at least in Global) are sometimes marked as read for awhile, then they all reset to unread a short time later?

Haven't done a ton of testing on it yet, noticed the same issue browsing on iOS and Android over the past couple days though. Maybe this issue regressed?

Different issue and there is already a thread for it.

I'm sorry, I've also started having this problem (specifically that if I do a "mark previous read" in the All Site Stories view, lots of feeds suddenly have items that I've previously marked read appear unread again), but I can't find the thread you're referring to elsewhere.

First I had the pjroblem with the "mark folder as read" option. Now I am having the problem of a thread showing that an item is unread when it isn't. And NewsBlur is not updating either -- I am missing blog posts.

I've been having this problem occasionally with Guardian feeds, but it has become much more pronounced recently.

Looking at some of their rss feeds, I suspect the issue may be that they include a for the feed but not for any though the GUIDs are unique. Either you use GUIDs only to distinguish duplicate in feeds or cache them only for so long. When old items reappear, they get the date when the feed was generated and fetched (easiest way to get rid of them is to use the iOS version of Newblur and swipe as read all the articles in these feeds with the exact same time).

The Guardian has been switching its full feeds to summary feeds so it may be a side effect of this change. (I've emailed them at userhelp@theguardian.com about this issue, but that doesn't seem to go to developers and so far they don't seem to have understood the issue I described.)

I'm doing an aggregation and deduping of several Guardian feeds via Yahoo Pipes in https://www.newsblur.com/site/5268481...

Newsblur team:
This is the exact reason why I chose not to renew my service.
The link promoted above does not work anymore.
When will this be fixed?
