Layout leaves a bit to be desired

Can you be smarter about layout of stories with respect to screen width?
As it stands, I have a fairly common resolution (1680x1050), but when I'm reading my news feed, everything's pretty widely split across the width of my screen: the title of the feed, the heading of the article and the body of the article are all left-justified, but the timestamp and all the actions I can take are right-justified, creating a huge gap between what I'm looking at and the relevant information and desired actions.

All the obvious solutions to this leave you underutilizing my screen's width, but maybe it's worth it.

If you whip up a screenshot and show the wasted space, I might be convinced to figure out a way to reduce the width of the content. I feel like there's already a max, but moving the buttons may help.
