[PhoneGap Build] Signing Key Changes on PhoneGap Build

Hey all,

We're making some changes to how we handle signing keys on PhoneGap Build, in order to better protect our users. The details are in this blog post:
https://build.phonegap.com/blog/upcom...

The most important takeaways are:

  • Passwords for signing keys (except iOS developer certs) will expire one hour after use

  • You will need to resubmit your password once it has expired to build with that key again

We realize this a slight inconvenience for our users; however, the timeout should be long enough that you only need to enter your password once per development session, and you will not need to enter a password for dev/debug builds.

If you've built a client of the PhoneGap Build API, you will need to make the appropriate changes to handle locked distribution/release keys.

Thanks,
Andrew

Andrew,

Have these signing key changes gone into effect? Despite the changeover date being stated as Nov. 15, I have yet to see any differences when using PhoneGap Build? Is this normal?

Thanks for any help you can provide. If it is useful, all the apps I have are private. I do not know if this makes a difference.

We're holding off a little while until we can be sure Dreamweaver users will have a good experience once the changes are made. So long as you have your passwords for any keys you're using at hand, you should still be safe.

Thanks for the update. I'll make sure I keep on eye on announcements for when the new system is in place. Thanks for all the hard work you all are doing. PhoneGap Build is quite an accomplishment.

Hi..

When unlocking my Android key,
I get this prompt where I have to supply two passwords.

All ok, but since I use a password manager for all my passwords,
I simply paste these passwords in this dialog.

But this does not trigger the 'Continue' or ' Next' idk, button.

I need to edit both inputs manually like adding a space and then removing it again,
to be able to contnue..

cheers,

René
