Android: Link on homescreen disappears after installing new version of .apk

Hi to all,

I created an android app (version 0.9.0 and versionCode 1), installed that app on Samsung Galaxy S3 and added an icon to my homescreen.

Then I created a new version (version 1.0.0 and versionCode 2). After installing the app again on my Samsung Galaxy S3 (yes the phone recognized that an older version is already installed and asked me if I want to upgrade and that all settings will be kept) the icon on my homescreen disappeared.

This means I had to create again a link on my homescreen.

Is this normal or is there a setting to change that behavior?

Thx,
Norbert

I don't have a Galaxy S3 with me right now but on the Galaxy Nexus it is not the case. I think it's most likely Samsung's TouchWiz UX being the culprit here at any case.
