Apple announced that from february on all apps submitted to their store need to be using the iOS-8-SDK and need to be 64Bit ready. Will Build be ready for this?

So when is the planned date to enable 64-bit support. And will you have a switch to switch between 64-bit and 32-bit? Apples warning states, "we recommend using the default Xcode build setting of “Standard architectures” to build a single binary with both 32-bit and 64-bit code." I am assuming this means they will want both?

....a "single binary"!
No switch required...the built .ipa should contain both.
(...and I agree that it should be available by now, because developers need the next two weeks to build, test and get their apps approved by the business they work for OR they need a word to know that they have to hurry up and submit their apps before Feb 1st)

This is ridiculous. It has passed 3 months since this post was made and there hasn't been any sign of progress from PGB.
I've been a paid user of PGB for a long time, and it's frustrating that there's no real support here. This "community" support is just a way of delegating support to the community, and the PGB reps seem to only be checking this community forum when they please, as seen by the lack of response to the multiple replies sent in the last 2 months, with absolutely no follow up from PGB yet.
Seriously PGB, if you're going to offer a paid service, assign a rep to follow up on the community forum at least once per day, or offer a premium plan that includes ticket-based support.
With all due respect, you cannot grow a product with such an awful and ridiculous level of support.

Submitting a new app to Apple today. Still getting the 64 bit warning. Given how long it takes to get new apps approved, this is really cutting it close!

It looks like no one from phonegap is checking this thread - is there another way to contact them and then relay the info to this forum?

I am quite confident that they are aware of this thread, and read its posts. However, you might want to try and contact Brett Rudd (who appears to be a tech lead at Phonegap/Adobe). His Twitter name (@brettrudd) and other contact possibilities can be found easily by googling something like "brett rudd phonegap". (you'll find profiles in LinkedIn, Coderwall, etc.)
Furthermore, PGB crew has frequently posted a mail address which they use to have developers send zip files to them: pgb.pubsupp@gmail.com
Of course, I can't really tell whether any of these contact options will actually trigger anyone to become more active and communicative on this issue.

Hey Guys
It appear that 64bit iOS8 requirement by Apple is a straight forward change from our end.
Build should be ready before the due.
Thanks.

Thanks Amir, but why do we have to wait so much time for an official response? With all due respect, this is a lackluster level of support for paid users (I'm one).

If it's so straight forward why isn't it done already? And "SHOULD be ready" is not very comforting.

this is not a feature request, it's about the core of the product. I can't believe it took 3 months to upgrade the system and is not yet finished. if you are not going to deal with this, please let me know because I have core projects using your platform and if I have to migrate to another system, I need to know it before the apple's deadline. thanks

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Phonegap Build 64-bit support, time is running out..
I built my app today and submitted to itunes connect. Built using phonegap build, latest supported version 3.6.3 and I received this message from apple.
Dear developer,
We have discovered one or more issues with your recent delivery for "...". Your delivery was successful, but you may wish to correct the following issues in your next delivery:
Missing 64-bit support - Beginning on February 1, 2015 new iOS apps submitted to the App Store must include 64-bit support and be built with the iOS 8 SDK. Beginning June 1, 2015 app updates will also need to follow the same requirements. To enable 64-bit in your project, we recommend using the default Xcode build setting of “Standard architectures” to build a single binary with both 32-bit and 64-bit code.
After you’ve corrected the issues, you can use Xcode or Application Loader to upload a new binary to iTunes Connect.
Regards,
The App Store team

Just to butt in – as an alternative to PhoneGap Build, the AppGyver Build Service has this issue fixed. Our wrapper is backwards compatible with Cordova (and also allows you to include any custom plugins in the build, not just ones from a predefined list). You can run the Steroids CLI in your Cordova project without modifying any files – the `steroids deploy` command will upload your project to our Build Service, where you can then define build settings etc. (Disclaimer: I work for AppGyver and I feel your pain.)

Thanks Harri, the platform, framework and documentation look awesome. Will be trying it out, as it's clear I and everyone here one urgently need an alternate platform that does handle the challenges of serving mobile developers in a professional manner.

I converted my project in very little time and was able to run in their simulator in less than an hour. I am on a deadline for this release, however, I will give it a shot for the next one.

Hi all,
I uploaded my IPA file to iTunes Connect about an hour ago and did not receive the email about the lack of 64bit support anymore.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Hopefully PGB solved the 64 bit issue and that it wasn't just a problem with my mailbox.

I've just uploaded an app update and didnt get the 64bit warning I've previously had.
I assume this has been fixed, just no official word?!

Well that's great news! Thanks for sharing. Of course, I just submitted my app a couple of days ago... darn! haha. and with Apple currently averaging 10 days for a review...guess I'll hang tight.

not always they notify about this when submiting the app. I did 6 uploads in the last weeks (not at the same time) and only received a single notification with the happy warning.

and why the everliving socks is this thread flagged as "answered". this problem is "made notice of" and not even near of being answered!

I agree, I dont know who set it as Answered as its not.
There has been no official word a fix is in place or what has changed, for all we know they could be testing and it could go back tomorrow.
I would assume this should be a build 3.6.4 not 3.6.3 as it still stands or are they updating the build without updating the build version? Who knows?!

I foresee a HUGE problem here with this new 64-bit requiement from Apple: a LOT of 3rd party Phonegap plugins will stop working, as indicated in that blog post:
"Some plugins will be incompatible with arm64 eg. the plugin contains a compiled binary which does not support arm64. So if you are a plugin author please double check that your plugin supports arm64."
This means it will take a lot of time for the most popular 3rd party plugins available that are compiled for 32-bit platforms exclusively to catch up and publish a 64-bit compatible version.
Does anyone here have an idea how pervasive this issue could be? How many of the 3rd party plugins are compiled for 32-bit platforms exclusively?

This doesn't pose to be that "huge" of an issue (at least in my opinion). Granted yes it does throw a wrench in the machine if you are working on a tight deadline to release an app, however, this has been a known requirement of mobile developers since October 2014.
Most 3rd party plugins I have come across were most likely built for the PhoneGap side first and then adapted for PGB later. This most likely means majority have already updated to be 64-bit compatible. Any that have not yet, you are free to contact the author and kindly ask they update their plugin to be 64-bit compatible.
It also seems like you are trying to muster up some fear by stating "a LOT of 3rd party PhoneGap plugins will stop working" yet you go on to claim you have NO idea how many there actually are that are not 64-bit compatible. :-\
Yes, PGB should have handled this update much, much better, but I think you'd find if you would go and look at the 3rd party plugins you use you will see when they updated to be 64-bit compatible.
The delay in PGB being 64-bit compatible in no way prevented the 3rd party plugins from being updated ahead of time... just saying.

PhoneGap Build, Thanks, you have saved my bacon. BUT not without us having to put several extra days of effort, with deadline looming we were forced into rebuilding the project in xcode anyway.

Cutting it this close wasn't much fun ;-(
Pleased its resolved now but I do think PG need to keep us more upto date and respond to issues on the forum. Seems theres only Amir reading posts here?

Cutting it this close wasn't much fun ;-(All these posts and that shouting didn't make it any better or worse. PGB promised a long while ago that everything would be upgraded in time. And they have done so. Wasn't that close....
Seems theres only Amir reading posts here?Yi Ming is here on a daily basis, too. But yes, they seem understaffed, especially since Zahir and Ismael left the team.
Have you noticed their banner on the main site, saying "we're hiring"? They are looking for developers and support crew. Apparently, such experts are hard to find.

Im not shouting ;-) Just making a point, and I really do think it was cutting it close, just over a week to the Apple deadline... imagine if PG said it wouldn't be ready in time - people with deadlines would have forced into alternatives and spend a lot of time re-developing like @Graham Haworth said above, they had to rebuild in xCode for fear of missing a deadline.
Just a bit more communication would help a lot ;-) And hopefully if they recurit some staff they'll be able to do that.
PG is a great platform and without it I wouldn't be able to develop apps so im not making noise for the sake of it - just trying to help.

No, you weren't shouting. Just a way of speech.
I agree that problems could easily ensue if PGB hadn't gotten it first-time-right (I hope they have!). But at the same time, I feel that the constant demands for statements, updated information and the large number of complaints made it look far worse than it really was. It was almost like how a politician is perceived when national media write an 'inconvenient article' about such person: suddenly millions of people, who have no idea what this politician has achieved so far, want him/her off the job...now.
[Others may now claim that PGB wouldn't have upgraded soon enough if they had not been pushing in this thread....]
Considering what PGB has to keep up with (feature requests, support requests, answering questions that need not be asked, keep pace with the Cordova team, ...., --- things we all want them to do quickly and correctly, too), their priorities and timing for this issue seems to have been proper.

According to Apple:
"...Beginning June 1, 2015 app updates will also need to follow the same requirements..."
The Feb. 1 deadline only applies to *NEW* apps being submitted.
