Can hydration be customized to display specific htmls/ images/ icons rather than standard ones?

Do you mean replacing the gray hydration screens like 'checking for updates', 'downloading update', etc?

These cannot be customized. Hydration is intended as a development tool, and should not be included in production builds.

Thanks for the information. I really thought this would be a tool which an end user can utilize to update the apps build on phonegap without reaching out to Store or Market.

So practically speaking there is no way to push an auto-update to an existing app to end user from phonegap?

This tool is not currently intended for the end-user -- it is intended to push updates to devices during development and testing.

Some app stores may reject your application if it includes hydration -- historically the big platform providers frown on dynamically injecting code in production applications.

Is this still the case? I'm looking at moving from Trigger.io to PhoneGap but want the hydration ("reload" from Trigger) functionality.

We've had no problems with apple or google app stores with our Trigger base app...

Thanks!

We now allow building signed / production apps to use Hydration.

so, then, with regard to the initial question, is there a way to "re-skin" it to look like part of the respective app it's in? Right now I'm afraid my users will think it's more of an error than an update, so I'd love to be able to even just customize the text and background color.

Sorry but the ability to re-skin our Hydration tool isn't currently in our roadmap. Though we have allowed signed builds to use Hydration now, it is still intended as a development tool for testing updates -- not for deploying updates to the end user.

I think you guys should...seems to be a "want" but your customers ;-) We use it to update our app because it is a private app that we don't want on the store for public consumption. Currently, we have to have the iPads sent back to our office so we can load up the latest updates manually...but with hydration, we can do this remotely and automatically...so please...do put it on your roadmap.
