PGB should automate creating and using Android Expansion packs

  • Under Consideration
It's currently a major point of pain for building my app for Android and it is the only reason I am having to use the PhoneGap CLI. Would be so awesome if PGB could do this.

This is a feature which is desperately needed. I'm a paying customer and find that this is in my opinion the only limitation of phonegap build.

As a paying customer this feature appeals to be something that is standardised when it comes to android expansion packs. But no, it isn't and seems quite rediculous in all honestly. I feel I am not getting my money's worth and feel cheated. I am not only one really unhappy customer but I also am disappointed that such a huge organisation can do something like this. I strongly advise you to sort this issue out.

For such a well established organisation i feel this is getting quite ridiculous in all honesty. If PhoneGap have any respect or even some awareness of the users of their software they would understand how crucial this feature really is.

I was left shocked and surprised when I learnt that this feature was absent from PhoneGap. The fact I am a paying customer makes it worse. PhoneGap's decision to omit such a crucial feature has truly left me baffled and I believe gaining this feature should be their number one priority right now.

This feature definitely needs automating! I've tried so hard to use the plugin but it just isn't having any of it!

This is not a critical item. If your customers are requesting this, then you should do some work. Here is a URL that explains how to do it:

FWIW, spamming the message board is not a good idea.

Thanks for the link. Has anyone been able to use javascript to play an audio file that is stored in the expansion file?

I ended up modifying the plugin locally to add a function that allows me to extract a file from the zip to a regular file. Then I can play the audio file with the Media plugin.

John, thanks for the update. Can you make a pull request from the author of the original plugin, or post your code on github for others to benefit from? TIA

@John, Sorry I missed your request on that last message. I have working demo/test audio App. However, I have NOT tested them with the expansion file. On this, you should be aware of the content:// URI http://developer.android.com/referenc...
Best of luck.

I've followed that tutorial... but the second I try adding the plugin to the app and submitting it for build it breaks and the android one doesn't build. Phonegap need to either make their own way or make a better tutorial on the xapk plugin already out there.

Has anybody recently been successful in the Google Play Store using the XAPKReader plugin?
