What happened to the Support Crew (Amir and Yi Ming)? Haven't seen them here since about two weeks, now.

I know there is a node.js conference going on right now. Perhaps they are there.

Both of them at the same time? For two weeks? Without temporary replacement? And without announcement?
Doesn't sound like something a paid service should do...

I guess taking some holiday time. FWIW, I've been getting tweets that they are looking for a 'Product Manager' - http://bit.ly/1QPLXrp

Adobe employees have a break from Dec 24th to Jan 4th, it's really strange that both of them are away for so long right before the break

Amir and Yi Ming have disappeared from the Phonegap Team page. :-(
http://community.phonegap.com/nitobi/...

No announcement, no Blog article about this, no replacement.
Looks like Adobe is either slowly letting this thing die, or they believe they can count on community denizens to support everyone.
Both options are bad...

Yeah. I got that, but there are more support people beyond Amir and Yi,
FWIW Phonegap Day is a few weeks away. http://pgday.phonegap.com/

Nobody is currently doing community support.
Brett checks in every other day, just to see if there are any account/login problems
And PGday has never been a reason to interrupt support service in all these years.

My guess: they are just testing to see if things collapse without support crew. If not, they'll silently keep PGB available, otherwise they'll bury PGB. In that case, developers will quickly move to Telerik.

Hmm.. not sure what to say.

Except I will be going back to California in the next month or two. I'm currently wrapping up all pro-bono support projects. You'll see a lot of posts from me over the next month, and I will be cutting back on responding to issues as well. I've already cut back on other forums - including SO.

@Petra &@jcesarmobile

Today got an email from Adobe manager. Maybe you got the same.

- New forum coming.
https://forums.adobe.com/community/ph...
https://forums.adobe.com/community/ph...

- I asked about what happened to support people

Our PG Build dev team is small and we no longer have the support from Amir
and Yi Ming who were contracted employees from Service Rocket. With this
new Adobe Forum we are making it a higher priority for our entire team
(~20 people) to be active and at a minimum monitoring the main PG and
PGBuild channels (...)

I didn't, maybe because I'm not a Champion like you and Petra V.

Good to know that they have separate forums for phonegap and phonegap build

Likely yes - because we are "Champion", I will let them know you are helpful. He said something about a "Creative Cloud". I'll let you know what it's about.

I don't think you should have published those URLs before they officially announced it.
If you receive a private mail from Adobe, you should keep that private.

Anyway, it looks like the new forum requires an Adobe ID, and signing in with (for instance) the Google account used to sign into this nitobi forum is not possible.

Also, that new PGB forum doesn't link to the PGB docs and the Blog. :-(

Finally, if this means that (a) temporarily two parallel forums exist (this old one and the new one), and (b) later on, the old frum is deleted without converting everything to the new forum, then it's a Bad Idea.

Petra V, I've signed with the same google email I use here, but I registered with that mail on phonegap build like 4 years ago and converted it to Adobe ID some time after.

The forums seems to be beta or under construction. First post was 4 months ago.

The funny thing is the phonegap forum links phonegap build docs, but the phonegap build forum doesn't.

I don't think they will delete this forum, just close it and link the new one, as you say, it's not a good idea.

Yes, I did. Thanks, Al.
I'm not thrilled about another attempt to have a new forum, though. Last year, Brett tried something similar. Luckily, that never took off.
And why should one log in with the Adobe id (which in my case belongs to the company, not to me)?

Thanks for your feedback Petra. There are a few reasons we're doing this.
1) We can (hopefully) offer better support by bringing Adobe's support team in
2) We get PhoneGap questions there already from other Adobe products that integrate with PhoneGap so having other teams move topics to the PhoneGap community there will give topics a place to exist and get answered
3) AdobeID - we use this for PhoneGap Build already so we're hoping to eventually have a more seamless experience between the two
Let me ping you again via email.
Al

@Al: thanks for the mail. I'm in a hurry now, but will find time to reply later today.

To the above:
I can see some benefits in point (2). However, I believe (1) and (3) are on the wrong track.

(1) Adobe's support team can access and use the current community forum to assist developers with their problems and questions, just like the PGB Support Crew has been doing for years until Nov., 2015. You don't need a new forum (and possibly destroy the present community, its participants and its history full of FAQ) in order to bring in new people.

(3) The Adobe ID is the (business) ID of the organization that is assigning people to projects and paying for the account. That's a whole different entity than the people who ask questions and discuss topics here. One such company (Adobe ID) can have multiple developers (participants), each with their own ID to log in into this community.
You should never mix up Adobe id's with personal (Google, Facebook,...) accounts.

Guys, the forum participants are all crying for _support_! They want their issues to be taken seriously. They want changes to be communicated. And they want immediate help if those changes appear to break the system (as is the case right now with cli-6.0.0 - nobody from Support in stand-by mode).
And now, all they get is a new forum. :-(

More later per e-mail.
