I am developing a cross platform application, and I am using phonegap build.
But when I try to install the app on windows phone 8. It gives me an error that you cannot install a company app.
So please tell me which type of build is phonegap building?
Can I build a company app using phonegap build?

Sorry Hyginus but I didn't got you.
If the xap file is not compatible with windows phone 8 then for which device this file is made for?

Hi Vipul,
The link i shared with you mention that the XAP produced by Build is not compatible with Windows 8. and for my understanding it is a known issue, which the dev team is currently working on.
Kindly give time for me to verify this with the dev. team.
Thanks

I'd also like to know when Windows Phone 8 is expected to be supported. It's not documented anywhere which versions of Windows / Windows Phone is actually supported.

Dear All
I have created a feature request at the following location, so that our developers can share their plan for WP8 & W8 support:

Thanks!

Cool, there is no info in that thread though. Are they planning on actually posting updates in there, or is this another dead end that no one will look at?

This is a big gap for a service that I'd be willing to pay for: it's easy to use, cheap, and works well.
Is there anything that can be done to expedite this process? WP8 is definitely a decent platform while WP7 is full of gaps and honestly I do not know how many people would like to support it in a green field project.

Hmm, I just rebuilt my WP8 version and I still got the same "failed to install company app" error.
My phone is registered as a Dev Phone.

Hi Pirka,
May I inquire whether this was working previously and just stopped?
Can you explain how you have been installing it previously also?
Also check how many apps you have installed so far(doubt this should be an issue).
Have a look at the recommendation in the link below and let me know if that helps.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Sorry - my bad - I was trying to circumvent the installation by not using the Application Deployment application.
I now managed to install the app, only to be greeted by a blank black screen. ;)
I feel my journey to shipping a WP8 compatible app has just begun.

Hi Pirkka,
Noted.
Please follow instructions in the link above for setting thisng up.
If you are still experiencing issues, send us your app id.
We'll try and test out the app and see what can be wrong.
Thanks.

Thanks Ismael, but to clarify my app is not a "company app", but instead just a "normal" app that I installed on a development phone.
I've got one report of black screen on startup from single Android user as well, so it might not be an issue unique to WP platform. The app is working on my Android test phone however.
App ID is 904623 if you want to take a look.

I have the same "black screen" problem like Pirkka Esko.
The two (test-)apps I build with PhoneGap Build both had that issue.
As said earlier I wasn't able to install the app directly on the phone. (error-message: "..cannot install company app..."). I installed the app this way:
1. build the app with PG Build
2. downloaded the XAP file
3. Connected the WP8 device via USB
4. Installed the App with the "deloyment" tool that's part of the Windows Phone SDK.
My app is not intended to be a "company app".
App ID: 979849
Edit:
I found that thread about the black screen issue:
http://community.phonegap.com/nitobi/...
It seems that many people are affected by the issue. But there is no solution so far. :/
Edit2: Just a sidenote:
I did not add the windowsPhone platform to the PG Project! Can this be an issue?
I asked if it's neccessary in this thread: (answer: no)

I was just able to install *another* app on WP8 - nice!
Thanks 8arracuda for the thread link. In my app the blank screen is black, not white as in that thread. I should probably debug this further by setting a green background in my HTML or something...

For me it seems to take the background color from your app. This would mean that the process of opening the app/page stops at some point.
When your background color is green, the blank screen should be green I guess.
Is there a good way to debug WP8 apps? Perhaps somethink like the google chrome debugger for mobile devices? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4zpL...

My other app installed fine, but clicks to links (onclick/ontouchup handlers) don't seem to trigger - app is unresponsive. Anyone else experienced this?
More info: I'm using React.js framework, and the app is working fine with Internet Explorer on the same device.

I dont know if others experienced this problem but for some reason my app failed to locate javascript files in folders, thus I got the blank screen, worked perfectly by uglify all JS code and put the output file on same level as index.html with a script tag. Now my big issue with WP8 is that it seems like my app is not able to make a simple HTTP GET request. Anyone experienced that?

Hi,
It could be the way the pathing format for said platform.
In some case you need an absolute path starting with ../pathtofile/file, others, folder/file.
So will recommend trying the different ways and at worst place all files in same directory.
