Experiencing audio crackling & popping when I'm using my NS7, NS7FX & NS7II controller on my Windows computer

Update, thought the problem was solved after one gig & a fresh install of the firmware.... Nope, it's back.

I did every thing from fresh install of drivers, firmware, PC optimizing, new USB cables, switched USB ports, turned off Wifi, tried Serato & Virtual DJ. Fresh install of Virtual DJ & Serato, fresh install of Numark drivers & firmware, Actually used a different laptop, changed latency settings. After 2 hours, crackling & popping sound comes back every time. Restarting the NS7 & laptop are the only resolve. By the way this issue is with both the NS7FX & NS7II. The only change is that my job at the night club is now on the line, due to the crackling sound issue. My back up controller to the NS7II is the NS7FX.... I am really screwed up here. HELP!

  • Hello John,

Thanks for posting back. I'd like to help! Do you get these symptoms when you use both Virtual DJ and Serato DJ or just with Serato DJ? As with any USB audio interface, there are many potential causes of symptoms like distortion, artifacts (clicks/pops/crackling), and latency. We've created a guide which provides some helpful tips to troubleshoot the issue.

Troubleshooting USB Audio Artifacts or Latency

Also, please attempt the steps that I suggested below to help you out.

Update Serato DJ to the latest version
Update Virtual DJ to the latest version

Update to the latest NS7FX or NS7II audio driver

    • Log onto the NS7FX product page and navigate to the DOWNLOADS section to find your audio driver.
    • Log onto the NS7II product page and navigate to the DOWNLOADS section to find your audio driver.

You also want to connect your NS7FX or NS7II to the USB port closest to your computers power supply. When using the NS7FX, make sure your FX is connected to the opposite side from where you NS7 controller is connected to.

    • When using Serato DJ, set buffer sizes to either 5, 10 or 20. Find the buffer size that works best for you and your hardware.

    • When using Virtual DJ 7 Pro, utilize the following guide here to help you out with your setup.
    • When using Virtual DJ 8, utilize the following guide here to help you out with your setup.

    • Thanks for helping out!
    • I'm experiencing my tracks stopping briefly then picking back up. Tried EVERTHING. I have a alienware laptop. Computer runs very fast and efficient. Run it with a Numark NS6 with VDJ 8. Everything runs fine on my OLD dell laptop. First time using them together I got really bad latency and stops. I changed the sound card setting to where when Numark is plugged in, its set to default. Played a little better, then stopped again. So i completely disabled that sound card, still had some stops. Helped a little, but in the end it still interrupts the set. I also disabled the microphone during shows. Any advice here? Not able to find a buffer setting in VDJ8 as there was in 7. Thanks

  • The only time I do not get these symptoms is when I used a friends Pioneer Controler, not being rude being honest. I have tried different laptop, mac, pc, Virtual dj serato, optimizing, drivers, firmware, sent in for repair it was sent back with nothing wrong....... the problem is painfully obvious, it has to be in the Numark drivers.

    • I am not sure if this is a page for window users but I am running an OS operating system I have the latest drivers as well as updates for serato and Numark I keep getting the run around for results and the crackle and pop and audio drops continue... I try to promote your company but due to the support and the fact you only blame our systems instead of fixing the problem I can no longer stand by and sell and use your product... My computer is Optimized for the controller and my laptop the problem is your Maschine and I need a resolution not more excuses about how it's apples fault or my fault I follow instructions very well
    • Had all these issues for two solid years, was using a Toshiba 1 TB HD with 8 GB ram.... did every imaginable thing..... Nothing fixed it, issue is not enough room on pc for memory dump when mixing, especially video. NS7 is a pc hog!

So, bought an Asus Core i7 1 TB windows 10, with 8gb of memory dump, updated firmware & drivers not one problem in 6 months... 8 hour weddings, night clubs, bars, mixing vidoes, scatching, looping, microphones and not one single hicup!

No freezes, skips, popping, crackling, nothing!

Bottom line, the Numark requirements listed are waaaaayyy under specs!

An Asus gamer specs laptop is the way to go!

      Hope this helps?
