Cue not following the cross fader and other issues. Help Please

Hello,

I am somewhat new to Numark and have purchased a NS7iii. I love the system but have been having some issues. Not sure if these issues are just part of the machine's shortcomings of if they can be corrected in settings somewhere. I am currently using Serato DJ. Here are the issues i am having.

1. How do I set it so the headphones move from channel to channel with the cross fader? I used to have a DDJ and it would move the cue from channel to channel so I always heard the next track. Currently I have to switch channels by selecting the channel manually each time.
2. how do I get my sample effects to be controlled on the contoller rather than in the laptop.
3. is there a way to hear the fx on a track through the headphones while cuing up the song. this way I can prepare my fx knobs and prep my next transition without the crowd hearing it.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

  • Hello,

    Thanks for posting.

I'm afraid I'm not quite understanding your first question properly. Can you please elaborate? Your crossfader will allow you to move between the channels assigned to the left and right sides, respectively. It sounds like you're using a 4-deck setup--Is this correct? If you're using a 4-deck setup and are trying to mix between channels 1 and 3, for example, you will need to switch channels using the layer buttons.

Since the NS7III is a controller and doesn't have any built-in sounds, the sample effects can only be changed on your computer. This cannot be done on the controller.

Additionally, it's not currently possible to cue the effects through the headphones at this moment. However, I'll be happy to submit this as a feature request for you.

  • Thanks for your response. I am using a 4 deck set up and will try tonight to see if setting up as two decks makes a difference. The issue is that when I move the fader from channel 1 side to channel 2 side the cue does not switch to the other channel. Instead the cue stays on the same track as the oneconomy the crossfader is now on and I hear the same music as the crowd until I hit the headphone button over the channel I want to hear in the cue. My old ddj controller would switch cue channels automatically as the crossfadee moved from side to side. Is there a way to set up the NS7 to do this?
