MacBook Pro issues with NS7II

I had the NS7II for almost 3 years now, issues i'm having is at start up when i load music on left channel the platter spins backward at a high speed rate after i hit play means music also playing backwards and it happens almost everytime at start of my gigs, but loading on the right side doesnt have problem. by simply re starting the controller few times i get it back to work normal as it should be, also sometimes during playback i hear a popping noise and music keep playing but all controls have no response then same procedure i shut down the controller and re start few times until i get it back to normal. so i have been using it like that for a while now kinda embarrassing sometimes. so my question is after reading all threads about the issues seems like its all related to MacBook Pro, so will i be better off switching to Windows base laptop? Looking to buy an Asus ROG gaming laptop

  • Hi Eddie,

    Thanks for posting.

You can use the NS7II with a Mac or a Windows computer. Make sure you have the latest driver installed from the product page on www.numark.com

Have you tried using your NS7II on another computer? Do you experience the same issues? Please also see this thread here for additional information.

Hey Bill, I bought me a new Asus ROG Strix GL 553V laptop, installed serato and now i have to pay for it since wont let me install on two different computers. well anyway so excited to try it but im still getting that loud pop noise during use and when it does that controller get disconnected the music keeps playing but all controls have no response and now im back to re starting the controller and it will go back to normal but its doing it more often than than my Macbook, its like every 3 minutes or sometimes less unlike with macbook sometimes if get it back to work the whole night kinda running out of options here. i like numark been a fan since 1600 dj mixer all the way to 1775 and my last one 1975 during my 80s years. went back DJ' ing as a hobby after i tried one of this NS7II. so is it my controller having issues now??? I'll appreciate any suggestions on what to do.
    Thanks

  • It sounds like you're experiencing latency.

Every recording program has an options, settings or preferences page where the user can adjust the buffer size. Buffer size governs the amount of time the computer is given to respond to requests (for audio processing in this case). The larger the buffer size, the more time the computer has to respond. Large buffer sizes allow the computer to handle more work without choking. This prevents pops, clicks, chattering and skipping caused by an overloaded processor, but at the cost of higher latency. Smaller buffer sizes reduce the overall amount of work the computer can handle, but it can do so with lower latency. Latency refers to the time it takes the computer to respond to input. If latency is high, signals routed into the computer and back out to speakers or headphones may be audibly delayed.

Refer to this helpful article here regarding how to optimizing your system, improve performance, and manage latency.

  • download and installed a cccleaner although i have a brand new laptop nothing installed but the serato and my music library, re start system still getting pops and clicks and freezes the controller, now i'm beginning to think i have a defective controller. Most DJ i know uses Pioneer controller they were suggesting sell it go Pioneer, that'll be my last resort, love this controller even i have to deal with these issues just hoping it could be fix soon. willing to buy a another one and get this fix if it guaranteed wont be having any issues.

  • I’m Furious
For my part, I have not found a solution to sell it for a bite of bread! I am very disappointed, the different posts where I described the problems I met not changed anything, concerning pop (poke), jumps of music, I have two Macbook pro boosted for an amount of more than 3500 euros, 2 Macbooks equipped with I7 processor, 2 ssd samsung serie pro, 4x 8gb ram in 1600mhz, 2 usb cables Oyaide Class S with all the optimizations realized it is shameful, the NS7II is even part in SAV and on its return, I had an additional problem, a distortion was audible after 45 mintutes to an hour of use with more ... pokes and jumps of random music always present !!! Thank you SAV for returning a product with even more problem and I do not even mention the 4 aisle and return of 120kms that I had to make for all the movements to the SAV, the fuel does not fall from the sky! Now the guarantee and finished for a month, it's foutu 1200 euros of NS7II that leave through the window!
