My NS7II is not working on my computer

This still does not work on my iMac (2013). Works OK with my 2012 Macbook, but I'm looking to retire that thing. When is the Sierra support coming? This device hasn't worked with my iMac in over a year. Pathetic. I have literally tried everything to stop it from making pops and hisses in 20 seconds since the first El Capitan update was released alongside the NS7III. The screens have basically crippled this things usefulness. I never DJ anymore. This thing is a mixer for my PC more than anything. Sad!

  • Hello,

Thanks for posting. Release dates for upcoming software and driver updates are not posted here on the forum. Instead, please stay tuned to the macOS Sierra 10.12 and iOS 10 Support For Numark Products article here. Be sure the latest drivers are installed, which can be downloaded from the NS7II Product Page.

When you say the NS7II hasn't been working, what do you mean by that? Can you please provide me with some more information, as well as your full system specs and the version of Serato DJ you're using? Make sure you're using the latest version, which can be downloaded here. If you're experiencing hissing, pops, and clicking, check that your computer is properly optimized by going through this helpful guide. Additionally, I would try removing your NS7II from the MIDI Studio Window, lowering the Maximum Screen Updates Per Second in Serato DJ, and adjust the USB buffer settings. Follow these steps below to learn how to do this:

Removing a Device from MIDI Studio (Mac Only)
    1. Open a new finder window and navigate to Applications > Utilities.
    2. Double click Audio MIDI Setup.
    3. Select Window from the top menu and click on Show MIDI Studio is checked.
    4. With the Numark controller disconnected, click the Numark USB Audio Device.
    5. Click Remove Device from the top of the MIDI Studio window.
    6. Under the drop down menu, select New Configuration.
    7. Type of the name of your New Configuration.  Ex: Numark Controller.
    8. Reconnect your Numark Controller.

Lowering the Maximum Screen Updates Per Second & Increasing USB Buffer Size (Both Windows & Mac)
    1. Open Serato DJ.
    2. Click Setup from the top menu.
    3. Click the Library + Display tab
    4. Adjust the Display slider to 20 or 30. If you still experience clicks and pops after setting to 20 UPS try lowering the slider.
    5. Click the Audio tab
    6. Adjust the Audio slider to 10 or 20.  If you still experience clicks, pops and dropouts then set your latency settings to 20.
    7. Close the Setup.

If all else fails, please try using another USB port on your computer, or use another USB cable.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    • brother i feel your pain! ... i see all my other friends with their pioneer controllers not having any issues, able to update with all Mac Operating System with no issues and i'm here with this heavy ass Fnk controller that i can't use because i decided no to read Numarks Website about not upgrading your operating system until sometime next year because we can't figure out how to make the NS7 II work with Sierra... FMFL!!!

  • Tried all of this, no change seen in behavior. Actually increased latency incredibly (about one second delay between wave on screen and audio actually playing) to the point that this would be just as useless if it did work. About 30 seconds into the first track I get static, crackling, pops and added delay, all of which continues to multiply. Exactly the same as the problem when this was first reported over a year ago. Not one update has fixed this on my iMac, only fixed my macbook. Here are the specs for both:

iMac: 10.11.6 OSx, Late 2013, 3.4 Ghz i5 quad core, 16 GB RAM
    1.9.3 version of Serato (current)

Macbook: 10.11.5 OSx (won't upgrade after realizing iMac doesn't work), Mid 2012
    2.5 Ghz core i5, 4 GB RAM
    same version of Serato

NS7II is on firmware 3.3.3 (current) and display is on firmware 1.0.5 (current).

The Macbook has zero issues with this software, while the iMac is useless. I have tried all ports on the iMac and tried a powered USB 3 hub as well, same issue at all configs.

    Any other ideas?

  • It sounds like your product may need to be serviced. Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum, but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the Numark Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu.

    or

    • For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office or International Distributor.

Make sure to reference or link this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • I’m beyond frustrated
    Bill,

Your recommendation doesn't make sense. Why would the Macbook on 10.11.5 work while the iMac on 10.11.6 does not? How is a service call on the hardware going to fix this? I am posting here hoping someone will take the time to troubleshoot and fix the bug for all users, not just me. SMH

I will not be submitting for a $800 service fee just to get an estimate on the cost of fixing my $1300 item. I would be better off selling this to a sucker and buying a new NS7III, since no one seems to have all the issues the NS7II users with dashboard are having.

So again, what are your next steps? What can I show you that may help you debug this? I think this is over your head.

  • Thanks for the reply on the other post my friend. I've owned my NS7III for 5 days and spent each day troubleshooting, rebooting, plugging in USB hubs and Kanex adaptor, reverted software and operating systems and even tried on Windows. No luck. Finally called InMusic and long story short, they immediately created an RMA. Thankfully they're paying for the shipping. Hopefully I get it back before the next gig.

    Dear Numark,
All I want for Christmas is to be able to use my NS7 2 with my Mac.
    Thank you.

  • I know djs with Mac and they have no issues but they only use there Mac for djing only .
They went on to serato dj site and read and followed the instructions on how to optimise your computer.
They have completed all the instructions to the letter.
It does take a long time to do but the outcome is well worth it

  • That sounds wasteful and unintelligent unless you have all that extra cash laying around for satellite Macs for ppl who do more than dj. It's your chance to actually be useful Geoff. Go on out there and buy me an extra Mac lol.

  • I've got an even crazier idea. What if the product from the company worked in the capacity it was made for. Wow. Nah I think it would be easier for ppl to just buy multiple Macs for every task. Look it is what it is. Trying to argue that this is in any way just or professional is simply moronic.

  • If you got to any radio station or professional recordings studio you will find that they have a computer for one task ie music on one computer. The the other will do emails. Surf the net
I have 2 laptop's one for djing and the other to do everything else
