  • NS7FX & NS7 11 Both get a bad popping crackling sound after a few hours. Specs: Win 7 pro /8gb/1TB/
What I have already done: Updated NS7 Drivers, Changed Latency, used Virtual DJ, Serato, Traktor, updated pc bios, disabled firewall, viruses protection etc. Even used a Mac instead of PC, sent NS7 11 & The NS7FX in for repair, they were both sent back and I was told they were both in perfect working order!
This problem started after I updated my drivers back in 2014. Please tell me you have a fix for this? This seems to be a problem for NS6, NS7FX, NS7 11 & The 4Track! I I DJ at a night club and this is a huge issue! All of the troubling shooting seems to point at the Numark Drivers! Please help! Ps... used a friends controller last weekend and not one issue!

  • Hello John,

Thanks for the post. I appreciate that you listed what you already did to troubleshoot your symptoms. Here's what you can do next. First, make sure your Windows PC is optimized for Serato DJ. You can use this PC Optimization Guide for Serato DJ users using Windows 8 guide to help you out with that.

Which version of Serato DJ are you using? Make sure you're using the latest audio driver for your operating system from the NS7II and NS7FX product pages - http://www.numark.com/product_categor.... Did you use your friends controller with your computer or his computer?

  • Hello, I already ran through the optimization. I also tried using a different laptop as well as a different dj software. Nothing has worked. I prefer to use Virtual DJ.

    • I just saw that you had firmware updates, not just drivers, I downloaded and installed them. Ran a 4 hour test, ran great, however the problem seems to be when the amps get cranked up at midnight at the club. Could external amps draw more juice from the controler? Don't kn ow how that can be, but I will be at the club this thursday, so I will see how it goes then and get back to you. Thanks
    • Hello John,

Yes, that is correct. So if your clubs amps are cranked up, especially after 4 hours of hard use, that will effect your performance with the controller. We do not recommend doing that.

Gain Staging is important. You need figure out a happy medium between your controllers output and the clubs house system. For example, when I DJ at clubs for 4+ hours of use, I DO NOT turn my Master Gain further than 12 o'clock. I make sure that the sound engineer whose taking care of the club sound is adjusting the house system high enough where I don't have to turn my Master Gain higher.

If your Master Gain is at like 3 or maxed out, you are not properly Gain Staging your controller with your house system. Your overpowering the controllers soundcard and you will most likely lose audio or permanently damage it. Keep that in mind. This is very important.
