How big of a USB Thumb Drive can be used with the NS7II or NS7III Display? Can a external hard drive with a Serato DJ database, be used with the USB IN feature?

How big of a USB Thumb Drive (with SDJ database on it) can be used with the NS7 III screen bar? Also, can a self powered/powered external hard drives with SDJ databases be used with the "USB In" feature on the screen bar?

  • Hello DJ Kurve,

Welcome back to the forum. To answer your questions, The USB port was designed for use with a thumb drive or an external hard drive. There is no specific declared amount size that a USB Thumb Drive can be used with the USB IN Port Display screen.

In order for your screens to read tracks from your thumb drive or external hard drive, you'll need to add crates from your Serato library onto the thumb drive or external hard drive. Your screens will only read Serato crates from your thumb drive or external hard drive. For more information on copying crates form Serato onto a thumb drive, check out this helpful guide here.

  • Thanks Chris. Follow-up questions for ya.

Will the "USB In' on the screen bar ever be able to be used without having Serato DJ running? Kinda like how CDJ's are able to read regular thumb drives without software running. Or are you guys working on your own stand-alone software like Rekordbox?
    • Hello,

No worries! To answer your follow question, No, the NS7II (III) Display will need to be connected to your DJ software for use with a thumb drive or external hard drive. The NS7III and NS7II (III) Display is not standalone. This is obviously a great feature request and that's something to possibly look forward to in the near future. I'll forward your request to my team. Thanks!
