I’m frustrated

NS7ii/SeratoDj unwanted beat stutter issue/mpc pad issue

I've done all of the recommended optimizing. What happens is when moving the platter to scratch a song to drop in the mix, the song will jump around or stutter on the beat i am scratching. When i drop the song, and it is mixing, sometimes the song mixing in will start back at the beginning for no apparent reason. Sometimes when i press the mpc pads to stab a cue point, there lacks consistency and it may actually start playing the track even though the platter is disengaged. This is only happening on the right platter and pad area mainly because that is the side that get the most use.

i'm using: serato dj 1.9, driver 3.2, firmware 1.05

Please help. Instead of having fun at my shows i'm worried about the every mix having some weird glitch in it. Thank you!

  • Hello,

It sounds like you're getting MIDI drop outs my friend. What are your computer specs?

    Computer Model Name:
    Operating System:
    Processor Type:
    Amount of RAM:

Also, please try using a different USB cable and port on your computer. Sometimes the cable is at fault with your dropouts too. Lastly, in Serato DJ under Setup > DJ Preferences check Disable Needle Search During Playback. See if that helps with your issue too. Let me know how it goes!

  • Thanks for your response :)
    Macbook Pro
    Yosemite OSX10.10.5
Processor 2.9 GHz Intel Core i7
    Ram 8GB 1600 MHz DDR3

I went out and bought a fancy usb cable to replace the one the NS7ii came with and had the same trouble while playing out.

It is only happening on the right side of the machine. Is it possible that i'm doing a lot of quick mix instant doubles switching the song on the right to the left deck and only using the right deck to mix and its confusing the machine? Is it possible that i've worn something out on the right platter that is having the same effect? Also the top left MPC pad on the right side is also buggy, maybe because i use it often to cue up the track i'm mixing?

I disabled needle search and that didn't help either.

I'm using the driver 3.3.3 and firmware 1.05 and serrate dj 1.9.0

I really appreciate you getting back to me

    • The other thing is that this occurrence doesn't happen at home. Only in clubs. Could a master volume level, vibration from bass, unstable power or even the rca's that I'm using to connect to their pioneer channel have anything to do with it? No
      Electricity is grounded in Bali
    • Hello,

Yea that could definitely be your problem too. Absolutely. Irregular electrical connectivity can highly effect your performance while DJing. Since you're ok at home, it's most likely your environment so don't think the hardware is the issue. I wouldn't use this controller in those clubs too. Always use your controller with an outlet that is grounded. I recommend connecting the controller to a surge protector that is connected to a grounded outlet.
