Numark NS6 will not connect to my Windows 10 computer

I have a Numark NS6 and I am not able to connect to my Windows 10 computer. I have downloaded the most current drivers from Numark website and it acts like it is going to work and then I get an error of USB device not recognized and it doesn't work. I am trying to use Serato but I can't get the NS6 to work.

  • Hi Lance,

Thanks for posting. Can you please provide me with your full system specs, as well as the version of Serato DJ Intro you're using? You can download the latest version from this link. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver. Connect and power on your NS6 prior to launching Serato DJ Intro, and make sure you're connected directly to the port closest to your computer's power supply.

  • Hi Bill. My computer is HP ENVY Windows 10 with 16 mb of memory, 1 TB of hard drive, I7 NS6 driver and the newest Serato driver from the Numark website. I have reformatted my computer and I still get the same issue. It connects for a minute and then it in connects and gives me an error that the USB unit was not recognized and needs to be checked. I have tried this on two laptop computers and have the same issue. I'm sure it is something simple but I can not figure it out. Thank you for you help. I have tried it with the NS6 plugged in closest to the power supply and still no luck. It is strange, I had it working one day and I shut the computer off and then the next I got the error.

  • Hi Bill. My complete system specs are Windows 10 HP Envy computer with 16mb ram 100gb hard drive The Nurmark NS6 driver I am using is 2.9.55. I tried using the newest one from Numark website and I had the same issue. Now when I try to connect to the NS6 it connects fine for a minute and then it unconnects and then I get the error saying the device I hooked up was not recognized and it won't go away. One time I was able to use the NS6 with the current driver with no problem. I turned off the computer and that is when I had the error. I have even tried to turn off my automatic install and that doesn't seem to make a difference.

  • What version of Serato DJ Intro are you using? I would like you to try the following steps:

    1. Connect your USB device and open the Device Manager. You can find this in your Control Panel. If sorted by category, click on Hardware and Sound to find the Device Manager.

      USB Device

    2. Double-click on the Sound, Video and Game Controllers category and you should find your device:

      USB connect

If your device appears similar to the image above, this will indicate that it's connected and communicating properly. If you are still having trouble with response from the device, please contact Technical Support for further assistance.

    3. If the product appears with a yellow triangle or other icon next to it, and/or appears in a different category in Device Manager, this may just indicate that the drivers are not installed correctly or are out of date.

      USB connecting

    4. If the product does NOT appear according to the tests above, the device may just be labeled differently in the device manager or it may indicate a problem with the device. An easy way to test this is to watch the Device Manager while unplugging the device. If the Device Manager flashes, that will indicate that the computer does see your device and may just be putting it in another category or labeling it something different. Plug the device back in and watch the Device Manager again to see what pops up. That will be your device.

Often times the system may label something it doesn't recognize as just "USB Audio Device." This is another indication that drivers may not be installed or updated correctly as discussed in Step 3

If the Device Manager does not flash at all, this means that your product is not recognized by the computer and could indicate a problem with the device. This is a good opportunity to try different USB cables, or different ports. If this appears to be the case, contact Technical Support for further assistance.

  • Hello and thank you for your help. No matter what I do I still have an issue with it not working with my Windows 10. I have called Numark and that was a waste of time. The person I talked to asked what I did and he had no options for me. He said the plug where the USB goes into the unit may be bad and they don't do repairs. He gave me a website to try and it will be $250.00 just for the part. I only paid $350.00 for the unit. NOT worth spending that kind of money. I don't understand why it worked on a Windows 7 computer and not a Windows 10. I am still getting the error Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43) A request for the USB device descriptor failed. Do you or anyone have any ideas how to fix this error? Thanks again

  • Not that I had found. I ended up selling my NS6. It was becoming more of a pain then it was worth. I am using a mixer until I know there is a controller that works with Windows 10 and works for what I need.
