TT200 turntable slowing down

My wife got me a new TT200 turntable for Christmas almost 3 years ago. When I play a record, after 2-3 minutes, it starts slowing down and almost comes to a stop. Can anyone offer help or a solution?

The unit is in pristine condition, never moved from where I originally placed it in the house when I received it. I listen to maybe 1-2 hours of music per week due to my travel schedule and am still using the same original needle (stylus) I bought for it, which is still in great condition.

Appreciate any help, I did my research on Numark and picked this unit out, upgrading from an old belt driven turntable with the intention of having it for a life time and certainly didn't expect it to break down on me with such little use.

Thanks

  • Hi James,

Thanks for posting. Sorry to hear about the issues you're having with your TT200.

Can you confirm your platter is set up properly? If the platter isn't set up correctly, this can lead to poor turntable performance, platter instability, or motor damage.

    1. Start by inspecting the bottom of the aluminum platter to check that both locking pins have rubber fittings on them.
    2. Next, rotate the top of the motor assembly (brass in color) so that two holes are aligned parallel with the front of the turntable.
    3. Install the platter onto the center spindle and motor assembly making sure that the Numark logo and the two holes are aligned parallel with the front of the turntable.
    4. The two locking pins should drop into the top of the motor assembly for a stable and secure fit. If they do not, grasp the center spindle with one hand while rotating the platter with the other until the locking pins drop into place. If the platter is properly installed, it should not wobble and should rotate smoothly without any noise. Refer to the images below for more information:

If you've confirmed the platter is properly set up and are still experiencing the same issue, the motor may be bad and will require service. Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum but I can point you in the right direction. Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service Inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto www.numark.com/support. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop-down menu.

    or

    I hope this helps!

  • Hello Bill,
First, Thank you for the quick response. I did make sure that the platter was set up properly.

I have however become a bit frustrated with contacting Numark customer support and getting any sort of follow up after both completing a warranty request online and calling your support number. I received an email on 11/2 stating that someone would contact me within 24 to 72 hours, and it has been close to a month now with no response.

I have also tried calling, with no success either. If I do get through to someone live, they just say to complete online warranty request and if I ask to talk to a manager, I just get put on hold for over 30 minutes and/or the line drops.

This is my last avenue and hoping you can help get me in touch with someone who can actually help?

    Thanks

P.S. below was the email I received from Numark on 11/2:
