TTUSB + Focusrite 2i2 = tinny / crackly / if-any sound..

I have the TTUSB running into 1/4" line of the 2i2 and I can't get anything but crappy, barely-audible high-end.

Gain and line switches are where they need to be. I've reset the cartridge a dozen times. Nothing works while trying to listen to / sample a dozen different kinds of records - new to old.. Is this turntable that bad?

  • Hi Conrad,

Thanks for posting. Are you using a PC or Mac? Make sure you're using the latest version of the EZ Vinyl Tape Converter or Audacity softwares. You can download these at the links below:

Additionally, make sure your audio settings are configured correctly. Please follow the steps from the links below for a detailed walkthrough on how to configure your audio settings:

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Hi Bill. Thanks for the prompt reply.

I'm using a Mac. And I'm trying to sample with Maschine 2..

It really sounds like there's just not enough "ooomph" behind the turntable sound itself. It seems to be tracking cleanly from the needle end, but it's just sending an extremely weak signal into my computer. But again - it's not volume level, it's quality of signal.

I've tweaked the gain knob on the TT and it hardly changes anything.

The Maschine sampling feature is quite simple / once internal/external source is selected. I do not see any reason why it would be on the Maschine software end.

I guess I should try running the TT into the USB on my computer to begin to line up or eliminate culprits..? Any other ideas, I'm all ears.

And if anyone else out there has had similar issue with TTUSB and Scarlett 2i2, please holler! Thanks -

  • I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the Maschine software. It's possible it might be a setup/configuration issue within the software, but you would need to get in touch with Native Instruments to confirm this.

I would recommend using either the EZ Vinyl Tape Converter or Audacity softwares to help narrow down if this is more of a software or hardware-related issue. To be safe, it may be worth trying another USB cable or port on your computer to rule out a possible bad connection. If you do find this to be hardware-related, please get in touch with your nearest Support Office. You can find their contact information on that page.
