When will you fix the issues with NS7II constantly losing connection?

I'm just getting sick of this controller constantly losing connection. As you can see in this post - http://serato.com/forum/discussion/11..., many many others have the same issue. WHEN WILL YOU FIX THIS???

  • Hello Amir,

Can you please give the specifications of your operating system?

    Computer Name:
    Processor:
    RAM:
    Hard Drive:
    Operating System:

Ensure that you have the latest Serato DJ software installed from here http://serato.com/dj/downloads and make sure that you latest driver installed for your NS7II by logging onto the Numark's website http://www.numark.com/product/ns7ii.

USB dropouts, audio click and pops, can also be addressed by modifying your USB buffer size in your Serato DJ software. Try adjust your USB buffer size under your Audio tab to 20 in Serato DJ and then Adjust your Library + Display settings down to 40. Try this out. See below.

  • Computer Name - Asus
Processor - Intel Core i7-4930K (6 Core processor)
    RAM - 64GB
HD - Dual SSD on RAID 0
    OS - Windows 8 & Windows 7 (dual partitioned)
    GPU - nVidia GFX 580

I have the latest Serato 1.6.1. You've never released any updates or drivers in 7 months, so I have the latest Numark drivers as well.

My computer has an enormous amount of power (at least for Serato), and I don't really want to increase the latency to 20. I tried once and the delay was too noticable, but I continue to have this issue even at 5ms. Is there anything else I can try besides these two things?

  • Hello Amir,

Often we find customers who use custom built computers running dual partitions, susceptible to troubles that most Serato users in general will never experience. While its important to us that every user has a great experience, most times, custom built PC’s require specific attention to things that are not related to tech software or hardware but specific to your computer.

Try your NS7II on another computer to see if your symptoms persist. If they don't, you'll know for a fact that this is not hardware or driver related but more solely on your custom PC.

  • Dual partitioning cannot possibly cause this issue. The two partitions have nothing to do with each other. The two operating systems are completely independant of one another. either way, I have another older Dell laptop with Windows 7 and that one has the same exact issue. I also have a brand new Acer Ultrabook and that has the same issue as well. That one is running Windows 8 though, so I'm sure you're going to blame it on that. If you look at the link I posted above, there are many others having this issue with all kinds of computers and operating systems, so it's not just me and my custom computer.

  • Hello Amir,

I would suggest you uninstall your current driver on your PC and re-install the Windows 8 driver for the NS7II located HERE.

The issue is with the usb ports losing connectivity I have done some troubleshooting and noticed in the device manager that the ns7 2 driver had a yellow yield sign indicating that there is a connectivity issue. I uninstalled the usb driver by right clicking on it, then disconnected the ns7 2 and reconnected it. This is just a temporary fix. Numark needs to fix this issue ASAP

  • Hello Walton,

If you're on a Windows 8 operating system then you'll need to download and install the Windows 8 driver 2.9.55 from the link here http://www.numark.com/images/product_.... This driver will correctly connect your NS7II to your Windows 8 computer.

    Chris,

is there any planned firmware upgrade or fix for this issue?
I have similar problems. Support request at Serato gave me nothing as we figured out that the software has no issue.

It seems that the NS7II is getting screwed immidiately as soon as a single little millisecond USB delay occurs. Strange is the fact that the music doesn ́t stop, so the internal soundcard will not loose the connection.
Serato keeps as well playing and doesn ́t crash. Only result I have is that the hardware and the software does no longer respond to any command. If I switch of the NS/, Serato changes into offline player mode (and runs there the song over the laptop speakers...NO interruption at all!!!) and if I switch the NS7 on again, Serato changes back to normal operation AND the track that is running during all this time is going back to control on the NS7.

So my conclusion is: if there would be a little cache or buffer within the NS7 or its firmware the problem would be solved. The NS7 itself just freezes into a strange mode due to the USB hickup. Strange as the soundcard will still work and so there is no total conncetion lost.

Can ́t be the case that a unit in this price level has such issues and nobody cares.
To fix that must be a total easy task as, see above, a little more "acceptance for delay" would eliminate the problem. The USB interrupt is mostly so short that I don ́t even hear a crackle in the sound....but seems to be long enough to total shoot the whole machine out of the race?!

    Come on!!!

    Specs:
Win7 64bit (100% clean installation. only Numark driver (newest) and Serato installed)
    8GB RAM
    i5 2,5Ghz
dedicated (!!!) USB 2.0 controller (laptop has splitted ones. one for USB3.0 and one for USB2.0)

And yes. All optimization is done. Setting the latency to shitty 20ms (a blame!), reduce the Serato Display refresh to 30 AND turn off the motors (a disaster) will get the device with a little luck stable for 90 minutes. Use as designed for will result in: not more than 4 tracks and DEAD.

I feel more and more happy to have changed from Traktor to Serato and to give Numark a chance instead of purchasing the Pioneer stuff :(

    • I have the same exact problem. It seems Numark doesn't want to take the blame for this, instead wants to blame our computers. It's impossible for the computer to be the problem when alot of us with different computers have the same exact problem. Numark needs to take full responsibility of this matter and please find a solution. I have been embarrassed on many important occasion due this problem. It would be a relief to see this problem resolved.
    • Hello DJ Shine,
