CSS problems

We use a CSS stylesheet to define look and feel of content items in Learning Studio. If we use this stylesheet on Open Class content items, all is well. However, if we try to apply the stylesheet on the course introduction (above the activity feed), it breaks the entire page. Boo. You'd think the platform would simply disallow or disable the CSS, just like Wordpress does if you try something that it doesn't like. Could Open Class aspire to Wordpress greatness? Lots of nonspecialists are authoring content here. Make it easy for us.

  • We agree, Lisa. Our objective is to make OpenClass easy and accessible, regardless of a user's technical know-how.

We are sorry to hear of your experience in applying a CSS stylesheet to the course introduction. Doing so should not break the page.

Can you tell us more about how you're applying the stylesheet or how you intend the stylesheet to affect the content? The page should not break if the stylesheet specifically targets the elements you wish to change, so we would like to investigate a potential defect/issue preventing you from successfully executing the action.

  • Yes. I want to make more beautiful the course information that appears above the activity feed on my course landing page. I am applying the stylesheet in the html mode, clicking design to view it, then clicking save. Contact Brian Hassler at Pearson eCollege to get into my course to try it yourself.

A thought for improving this help forum -- allow users to post screenshots or screencasts of their experience.
