How Do I import OpenClass student scores into my Pearson gradebook?

When I export student scores from OpenClass, the .CSV does not contain the SIS ID. Since Powerteacher Gradebook uses SIS ID to validate, it cannot import student scores.

I am aware of the experimental future integration of the two Pearson products, but I only mean to refer to the here and now of creating a proper .CSV for Powerteacher Gradebook import. How do I do it?

  • Hello Erik,

The place to get the SIS ID within Openclass is through the Export People link at the bottom of the People tab in the Admin area. You can pull that report, pull the gradebook extract, and then use the function 'vLookup' to match the name of the student with the SIS ID in the People Export file.

I will pass along this suggestion to the team as well.

    Hope this helps,

  • Thanks for the reply, help from the OpenClass team is always appreciated.

If I understood correctly, OpenClass gradebook student score export is unable to include the SIS ID. Is that right?

How ironic that the Pearson LMS is incompatible with the Pearson Gradebook.

Efficient gradebook upkeep is crucial to the daily lives of most k-12 teachers. It would be difficult to recommend any LMS that didn't address this task in some way. Perhaps the pilot integration will go system-wide and be amazing. Any word on that?

  • I think the OpenClass Help folks may not have understood this question.

In case anyone else stumbles on this thread and is trying to get a .csv that will work with PowerTeacher Gradebook, I did find a workaround. You can read the thread for yourself here.

In a nutshell, you create a gradebook entry, don't count its scores, and simply enter the SIS student ID into the each field manually.

It would be so easy for their devs to create that column for the csv export...it is data that already exists in OpenClass. Perhaps it is believed that instructors still maintain paper gradebooks and manually enter each and every student score?
