PREPARING FOR POWERSCHOOL: What you need to do now to integrate later

You asked and we are set to deliver. PowerSchool is coming!

As you know, our team has been working diligently to build the OpenClass-PowerSchool integration and we are on track to introduce it this fall. I will share the specific date with you as soon as it is confirmed. Stay tuned.

The first version of this integration will include daily auto-sync of rosters, as well as Single Sign-on (SSO) from PowerSchool to OpenClass. Gradebook integration will not be a part of our first release, but you can rest assured we will be working to make this available as soon as possible.

If you plan to integrate with PowerSchool, PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY. Because the integration will come online after the new school year begins, you will need to manually upload rosters and create courses as you do currently to ensure readiness for fall starts.

We have published explicit guidance on how to manually load your user and course data now so you are able to avoid the complications of duplicate data if you choose to implement the integration during the school year. Please visit the OpenClass Knowledge Base to view these step-by-step instructions as well as a clearly labeled batch upload template that indicates the specific fields required when manually loading user and course data.

Please also note, if your school currently uses a four digit number to identify each teacher/student in PowerSchool, you will need to make a change to increase these teacher/student numbers to five digits. OpenClass does not allow for less than five digits to be entered as an individual's SIS ID (teacher/student number in PowerSchool is the equivalent of SIS ID in OpenClass) so making this change in PowerSchool now will help to avoid issues in the future.

Thank you all for your patience as we work to complete our first offering of the OpenClass-PowerSchool integration. As more information becomes available in regards to definitive timelines, implementation, costs, and support, we will be sure to let you know!
