"File not found" when downloading from YouTube or Google Videos

  • Problem
  • Updated 2 years ago
I'm getting a "Error-file not found" message, when I try to download videos from YouTube or Google Videos. Try to download Home (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IbDmOt...) to see by yourself. This download worked without a flaw yesterday, but not today. Haven't found one YouTube or Google Video, that I was able to download, today either. Maybe they have changed the API or something?

Checked it with the stable and the nightly (06-18) build.

This problem report is based on the question "file not found error - no download starting" by black.

I had 1.2.8 and downloading files from youtube worked last week. When I tried it today, no luck. Upgraded to 2.0 and even tried it on a different computer and still didn't work. "file not found"
This is my only way of getting music without risk of viruses... :(

Hi, same for me too, it was all working very well for maybe months now, but last couple of days I guess, it won't work for any video in my youtube feeds. I tried keepvid.com, and they worked on there.

I guess like the OP that youtube has changed the way they work, about a week ago I think they seemed to change the way their feeds work too, I had to run a nasty sed script on an .opml file to fix them all again.

Hi all, an update, I just built from svn, there is a patch in there, and my youtube problems seem to be solved, if you don't mind doing that kind of thing, you could grab the svn and build yourself, or grab a nightly.

Here is the log...

r9742 | pswartz | 2009-06-19 21:35:25 +0100 (Fri, 19 Jun 2009) | 5 lines

fix YouTube scraping

They changed something in the past 24 hours or so, so that the /v/ URLs don't
redirect. Just pull the video ID out of the URL directly and use that to
generate the info URL.

Here is the link to try out a nightly. These are considered unstable I guess, but I find with most open source projects it's rare to get a really bad nightly. If in doubt, make sure you backup your feeds/videos/database before trying one out.

Yeah! It's solved in the 2009-06-22-nightly () for osx. Get the latest nightlies from http://pculture.org/nightlies/.

However, a micro-fix for the current stable would be great...

we are doing some testing of a 2.0.5 release to push out this fix. It is available on pculture.org/nightlies, and you can see the other available fixes here:

I installed in ubuntu and it works well (it finds also the file Gussow.014). I noticed only one strange thing.
I had a lot of downloads, I searched one file, clicked on the download button. The file was added to the download queue, then searched again the same file and the download button was enabled, clicking on it the file is added again so I find the file downloading twice.

I hope it can help

thanks

First time Miro user. Downloaded 3 youtube vids. Went to find vids and they have crazy names (e.g. videoplayback-ip=69.0.0.0&sparams=id,expire,ip,ipbits,itag,algorithm,burst,fa.25&id=2501a0bb48dc98c2.mp4). Can't tell which file is which?

why would you want to do that? Miro lets you play vids from its interface. In any case, you can see the file name of specific video in Miro's browser of downloaded items.

atenrok, if you truly don't know why someone would want to use Miro to download videos and then use those files elsewhere, you should post your own question in the forums. If you don't have a solution to my post, then don't post. It wastes everyone else's time.

Dear Dan, please abstain from telling me what to do and I will not tell you where you should go. If you bother to read my post again perhaps you will notice in it a solution for your problem which I proposed. Other than that please don't worry about my time -- I have plenty to waste.

atenrok, you keep changing names and creating new profiles. Isn't that against getsatisfaction.com's terms of service?

Stop asking "why would you want to do that?" and simply accept the fact there are creative people in the world that want to use tools in ways you've never imagined. "Why would you want to do that?" is truly the most foolish question if it's posited as a solution to a problem. It exposes your utter confusion, your lack of ability to grasp the issue at hand.

A group of scientists in a coffee house are having a discussion. One man asks "What is the shortest trajectory to get to the moon from here?"

Suddenly, a patron sitting off in the corner (we'll call him Korneta) jumps up and blurts "Why would you want to do that?! WHY??!! Miro lets you play vids from its interface. In any case, you can see specific videos of the moon in Miro's browser! I have plenty of time to waste! You will notice I have proposed a solution for you! Yay! I'm so awesome!"

Grinning widely with false pride, the patron (who we'll now call Anthony Musgrove) staggers out the front door of the coffee house. Gloating that he has solved a man's problem by telling him to do something else (good job, Atanrok!), he is promptly run over and killed by a tricycle.

Methinks you the fool. Now stop trolling and go crash someone else's forum please.

When trying to download youtube videos it now gives a "Invalid URL" error. Latest nightly does not start at all on my rig (Windows XP), so I can't try that.
