Removing Bing tool bar from my browsers after Miro installation

  • Problem
  • Updated 5 years ago
When I installed Miro, it loaded a Bing tool bar on both my Firefox and IE 8.0 browsers. How do I get rid of it on both browsers?? I've looked at Add/Remove, at the tools section of each browser...and no luck. I had no idea it would install as a toolbar browser and your documentation failed to mention that. What do I do? Would uninstalling Miro be the answer? I doubt it but one never knows....

You can follow these steps:

1. Close your browser.
2. Click the Start button and open the Control Panel
3. Select Programs and Features (XP: Add/Remove Programs)
4. Select the Bing Toolbar, Publisher Zugo Ltd.
5. Click Uninstall
6. Restart your browser.

There is an option on install to check or uncheck the search changes. We are working to make the installer display the options more clearly so that there is less confusion or surprise.

Not so fast, JED . . . As I hope you can see (if the .jpg loaded), there is NO LISTING in Add/Remove Programs for Bing. And if you check your community forums, you'll see i;'m not the only one complaining about this invasion. It's also not visible among the Tools section or the tool bar view section of either browser.

I had this problem, too (Firefox). IIRC, I went to Tools>Options>General Tab>Manage Add-ons and removed it there.

Sorry, Keith. That trick doesn't work either. I have no idea what the Miro programmers -- or Microsoft -- did to imbed this tool bar into the Windows OS, but it's really in there. I'm not a terribly sophisticated user, but I just checked to see if there was either a Bing or Zugo entry in the registry...but there isn't.

JED: can you or one of your colleagues check with the programmer (s) who designed the Miro installation and the optional Bing installer and find out how to reverse-engineer its installation?

You can try the Removal Tool provided by zugo, http://launch.zugo.com/ZugoRemovalToo..., you can download it from mirostart.com/support.

I'm sorry about all this hassle.

It's not called Bing in add/remove programs, it's called 'Search Toolbar'.
