Why won't my RSS feeds update?

I have media RSS feeds loaded into Miro and many of them are not updating. These are from completely legal, working RSS video sources. I can load the RSS feed into a normal reader and the content loads, however I am not getting updates to Miro. When I initially loaded the RSS feed the first few episodes loaded, but since then nothing has changed.

I tried manually refreshing the RSS feed as well as have it auto update with no success. There are files in the RSS feed that refuse to update in Miro, essentially breaking the feature. Also, I've gone into the settings and made sure feeds were loading no matter how many videos were in the feed, so I don't think this could be a feed settings problem.

Just for background, I'm using Ubuntu - Intrepid and the newest version of Miro.

Thanks for your help.

Which feeds are these? Can you give examples?

It's likely Miro isn't doing anything with them because they don't have enclosures.

I've seen this happen too. Eg Wallstrip has been stuck since November '08 or so.

SamFrancisco: Neither of those feeds have enclosures. There's nothing for Miro to download in those feeds.

Thanks for your prompt response.

What is an enclosure, and how can I find a feed for these programs in the appropriate form?

And where could I learn more about enclosures and RSS feeds for Miro, please?

I'm pretty sure Comedy Central doesn't have podcast feeds for any of their shows. You should contact them and ask them to provide such feeds.

If you're using Miro on OSX or Windows, you can add the Hulu pages for the Daily Show and Colbert Report as sites to Miro and watch it through the browser. I don't think there are any other legal options for locked down content like this.

For some details on what an enclosure is, see this page on Wikipedia:

And yet the Google reader can use the links specified to create links to a page from which I can stream a download of full episodes. I know from experience that I can use the Firefox extension "download helper" to download most anything that streams. So in theory, Miro ought to be able to get this content. Is it a copyright issue that it does not?

I don't know if it's a copyright issue or not. Miro doesn't support it currently. If you think it's doable, I'd be interested in getting help to implement it, preferably in the form of a patch.

A few of my feeds are not updating (for hours or days). I'm able to download/use this feed in other programs like RSSRadio 1.5 (my previous podcast aggregator) and Firefox 6.0.2. Other feeds of mine are working though sometimes they take a long time to update. I'm not having any connectivity issues and I'm able to download the files through the rss links in my browser. The feed updated at one point since there are earlier episodes to download (and the download works properly in Miro).
Here are the feed links.

I'm using Miro 4.0.3 on Windows 8 developer preview. I've tried downloading using both a wireless and wired connection. I've confirmed that the proper permissions on the firewall are enabled and I've even disabled the firewall and it doesn't seem to make any difference.

P.S. The following feeds are up to date but the spinner is running continuously as if it is trying to check for updates and can't connect.

I have a similar issue. A few of my feeds just sit there with a spinner but don't update. (been spinning for hours) These feeds are from Revision3 and work fine elsewhere.
