Why cant i make 'Instant Bank Transfer' payments?

Hi,
please can someone help with this infuriating situation. I am a fully verified paypal user with my bank account added and verifed, my debit card added and verified and all the other verification you can have. Now, for a while i have been able to make 'Instant Bank Transfers' when paying for items (mainly from eBay), this is upuntil recently when the option is ALWAYS unavailable, so i email paypal and they advise it is due to their security screening process which picks out high risk transactions! This, apparently is random, however for the last 2-3 weeks i have NEVER been offered this as an option despite the transaction amount, even for 1p!!!! So i phone paypal, they say that despite it happening on every transaction despite the amount it is 'random', obviously not beliving them i try something else, if i go to pay my EBAY fees..guess what...i am given the option, despite them being around £125.00!!! the lady couldnt explain that!!! she hung up on me.... despite what people say on the net regarding instant bank transfer payments, i dont care...i wish to use them as i find them convinent...so jason (from paypal)..please help me!! Ive even written in to paypal, but so far nothing. my paypal username is ebay2009 'at' brookes-mail [dot] com

    ok i have just recieved the following email:

    While I appreciate that you may feel that PayPal has restricted you in someway, I assure you that this is not the case. We will always make you aware of a restriction on your account, and give you every opportunity to respond and work with us to resolve the restriction.

    The transaction security model takes many factors into consideration when processing a payment, and unfortunately security reasons mean that we are not given any information about what factors it takes into consideration.
    If we knew this information, then the security model would not work.

    Mr Brooks, I understand that this may be causing you inconvenience, but it is not our intention to do so. As much as I would like it to be the case, there is no workaround or quick fix for this issue.

    I can only recommend using your credit card for instant payments if this option is available to you. The option for Instant transfers may become available to you in the future.

  • pretty much the same old stuff really. If this really is your security system, then it is not fuctioning correctly, as it will allow me to make a £200 payment to ebay for fees (strange!!!) huh, but not a 1p payment to a seller!! Explain that. Regarding my settings....what settings would effect this, i am fully verifed, have my debit card and bank account and telephone number all setup and confirmed..ive followed all the rules. whats the problem...Jason??

    I get exactly the same problem, I have verified stuff coming out my ears (bank account, credit card etc) yet If I try and use instant bank transfer It is always greyed out!

    i have the same problem - i paid with instant payments for years no problem i am a very prompt payer. then paypal say i have to be verified this took 2 weeks, luckily the sellers were very patient. now i have tried to buy an iphone on ebay - i won the item but the seller says he wont accept an echeque - i have tried emailing paypal but this is impossible i want to go back to instant payments and receive the goods straight away like before

    When I called up PayPal about it, they pretty much said they couldn't do anything about it, because they have no control over their internal security program or whatever.

    I just made a new PayPal account and re-added my bank account. If you use gmail, the username+suffix@gmail.com feature works great.

  • I have had my paypal account for several years with no issues, I have not one but two confirmed credit cards on file but I like paying with my bank account for small purchases. Since September I have tried 18 purchases ranging in value from $1.50 to $80 and everyone of them I was refused the option of paying with my bank account. I have called numerous times and still cannot get a sufficient response from Paypal. It's bloody ridiculous that they won't investigate this problem instead of giving a standard "there's nothing we can do about it" response.

    Paypal dont care too much about losing customers unless you are like an ebay power seller where you make a lot of transactions through them, so you leaving will lose them a lot of money.

    Then they'll care.

    As for being able to pay your paypal fee's by instant payment, but nothing else.
    This is because paypal and ebay are owned by the same people.
    So they will allow this payment no matter if there what, as the money in going to them.
    If the money is going to anyone else (like a seller), then they dont care, and the usual 'no instant transfer' option is applied.

    I too have spken to them about this.
    And the response is the same.

    Our security system is a big secret, and will break if we tell you anything about it, so there is nothing we can do to help you.

    Why I cant Use Bank account instant transfer or use credit card for my PAYPAL PAYMENTS ????

    please answer me that why I cant use instant bank account transfer to pay to my sellers in paypal
    there is only one option avaialable during payment from paypal :
    Pay through ECHEQUE
    it take atleast 5 days for ECheque to clear

    I have already added credit card and bank account in my paypal but still not any other funding option is avaialble

    please help me ????

  • I finally gave up and closed my paypal account and opened another one. Had to go through the whole process of verifying my credit card and bank account but it was worth it! I was able to do my xmas shopping using my bank account with paypal.

    Some times you just have to do what ever it takes when dealing with a company who dont care about helping it's customer.

    I guess from some companies, the whole, thats the way it is and we're not will to do anything about it !, means more than the people who are keeping them in business.

  • Yes paypal are rubbish...the latest thing is to hold on to refunds from sellers,they say that my instant bank transfer takes 7-9 days to clear and that they are actually paying for my items..so if the money is refunded i have to wait for 7-9 days to get it back as they haven't received it from me yet...i don't beleive that an instant transfer takes as long as a cheque or echeque to clear...they are hanging on to our money to make interest to fund the guarantee that buyers will not lose their money as some buyers will not have funds to repay a seller..i have 2 refunds on hold, why after 6 years buying and selling on ebay has this started? that is my next question to paypal..also a seller told me that 5% of his transactions are held in an offshore account for 3 months so as you see they are raking it in...i haven't sold for a while it's getting too scary..judith

    Same thing going on here. Instant Payments from Bank account are now gone ... after 8+ years of using Paypal .. Verified 300+ times with Paypal, multiple credit cards verified, NEVER had anything declined, etc ... 100% feedback on eBay and the list goes on.

    I'm DROPPING Paypal and will find other means to buy things.

    Well it doesnt much look like paypal give a shit by looking at this..'Jason' vanished from the conversation months ago...and never came back.
    This same thing has happened to me today...Earlier today I made an instant payment from my bank account...a couple of hours I tried to make another...and that option was not available to me...nor can i use my back up credit card. this is a crap way to deal with good customers. It leaves me feeling sick.

    PayPal aren't worth sh*t! Even phoning them doesn't help. I tried to add my new business bank account (for which i have two sort codes), and ran into problems. I tried to explain to the woman on the phone that one sortcode is for outgoing and the other for incoming, and she could NOT grasp that simple fact and suggested I "Try another bank" -- Piss off paypal! Closing my PP account. Gunna go with NoChex!

    Yeah this issue still hasnt been fixed because its not a problem as far as paypal is concerned. You dont matter to them at all, if i can pay by any other method on ebay i will and since ebay and paypal are the same company if an alternative to both comes along im gone. (Them saying that money takes time to clear is BS it comes from the bank instantly)

    I'm having the same issue. I was trying to figure out why sometimes I can make and instant payment, and other times I cannot. I opened up a new PayPal account and was able to use instant payment for my first four transactions, but now I do not have this option anymore. I had my previous PayPal account for three years and was always able to make instant payments up until 2 months ago with no problem. I never have had any negative feedback. This is just messing up the flow of things. I'm having to wait on payments to be cleared from buyers before I can ship, and other buyers are having to do the same when I purchase an item from them. This is getting old REALLY quickly.

  • I'm having same problem. Despite having all the backup funding cards in place for years Paypal still asks for a card. My understanding is that in NYState Paypal cannot charge for a bank transfer - instant payment. They can charge for an echeck so they use that ploy to collect their 5% charges from the seller. In the meantime they warn sellers not to ship until notified by Paypal when funds are cleared - this takes days after the few minutes that my bank takes to process the echeck. Now as a buyer I am upset, my item is delayed by the seller and I may leave unfavorable feedback as a result of the wiseass paypal language he used to respond to my concerns about delayed shipping!

    I do not want eChecks since they are slow.

    I want to make Instant Payments. It is incorrect that I need a second
    funding source.
    Because I was always able to make instant payments with just my standard
    back account.

    I want to see this functionality restored without the use of Credit

  • Having the same issues. Default payment options is no longer available. Lets do the math, PayPal gets paid every time money is handled. They would love for us to transfer money from bank into PayPal (taxed) then spend it with another PayPal user (taxed again) Instant transfer they loose that option to tax on the buyer end. Greed, greed, greed, money, money, money.

    The same thing has just happend to me, just bought a 3EUR digital item 3 hours ago, right now attempting to buy another digital item priced 3.49EUR and I get the "This merchant doesn't accept non-instant bank payments. To continue with this purchase, please link a card to your PayPal account".

    *sigh* the other time I had problems with paypal limiting my purchasing abilities was 3 years ago when I went on vacation and on my first day there they asked me to "verify my account by connecting a credit card to it(I didn't own a credit card), therefore I couldn't transfer my paypal balance to my bank account and came short on money while out in another country on vacation!!
