PHPurchase is rebranding.. great! (NOT!)

Hey, what's this? Saying "great ideas" for several months.. Don't do updates and reward the users for helping in this forum, but just relaunching the plugin. New brand and a f**cking $400 a YEAR subscription?

Wow, that's user friendly, guys.. great work!!

  • Arjan, how is this hurting you? If you are an owner of a PHPurchase license you get five years of Cart66 (worth up to $2,000 depending on the level of your license). How is this not good news for current owners?

And the $399/year subscription you are talking about is for the highest developer level. And if you are complaining about a $400 annual fee (at the developer level), you're probably in the wrong business. Because building sites with WordPress/Cart66/GravityForms/more should easily be making you $5-$8,000/month in income if you do things right. (and that's at the low end and just an estimate for a one-man freelance studio.)

As a developer, I'm more than willing to pay an annual fee if for no other reason it means the Cart66 guys will be around longer and continue to develop out the plugin.

  • @Benjamin,

    WELL SAID!

I'm tired of all the complaining. People are ranting over at WPCandy and this forum and it sounds like Lee is very willing to help out. He's even offering a free version coming soon with fewer features for those who have complained they don't need all the bells and whistles and don't want to pay.

I too want to see continued development because it's an excellent product!

No, I'm not telling $400 a year is not a good price.. That's not my problem.

Why I am complaining is that when I was trying PHPurchase I was exciting, but since it was new I didn't want to buy the full dev package immediately. And the main reason I didn't buy the full package was that that there wasn't one decent do_action in the plugin, so you couldn't code your own stuff against it. Especially regarding to payment gateways. And when you don't get updates (not even small updates) for several months and the only thing you get is this change.. Well, then you can say it's not very neat..

One small piece of reaction in this forum would be nice just BEFORE they launch this stuff. Just inform your users about the changes. How hard can that be. But instead of that they just take all the good ideas, implement them (well, we should see what they did with it) and raise the price by factor 5, PLUS a yearly subscription.

That is just a way you don't handle your customers.

  • Hey Benjamin - what do you think?

Hey Richard - I think you should give it a rest. No one is begging you use the product and there is no reason to hang around here and bash it. I made a nice suggestion that maybe you should give it a chance and you continue to rant and be negative. If you are this angry and have no interest in the further development of Cart66 then move on.

  • @Piet -

Absolutely not a PR person. Just a very satisfied customer. I've mentioned several times on this forum that I purchased PHPurchase for the first time just days before the switch. The communication wasn't good but the product is. I'm very happy with it. Granted, I don't have all the international issues you are apparently having, but everything works fine and I usually get a pretty good response to my questions. Nothing's perfect. From all the requests and comments and complaints you've made, it sounds like you are going to have to have someone build a complete custom job for you - I'm not sure you are ever going to be satisfied.

Glad to hear you got your refund and good luck.
