Before proceeding with any steps to control weeds in your pond you should contact the biologist with the Regional Office of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Invasive Plant Management Section. For our area that is the South Gulf Office, located at 8302 Laurel Fair Circle, Suite 140, Tampa, FL 33610, 813-744-6163. The biologist can help determine whether you would need a permit to treat the weeds and likely will also be able to suggest the most effective controls for the kinds of weeds that have invaded your pond.
