Not genuine photos, made from two different ones.

I was just wondering if this photos that are in transportation/Automobiles should be here or in digital art or somewhere else, they are all cut and shunt photo shop made. The top 3 photos are all the same by the same person. In fact nearly every photo in this category are his and all are photo shop creations, there is one car at least with two different backgrounds: here are 4 examples I one he has cut out the car roof, http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...
http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...
http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...
http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...
If this is not blatant cheating and flooding the category with one persons work then I don't know what is, but all his posted photos are manufactured, cropped, cut and pasted, how is this far to those who have posted genuine photos, here are a few more examples.

Again same car different background.
These next 2 different cars, same background

this is totally manipulating the field to rip off the system. So Jasenka Lukša Vujasić how about doing something about it.

I had the same question. The official Pixoto position is that extensively Photoshopped images are ok. I don't agree with the rule but it's not my site.

Here is what I was told

Hello lou, please check Category description page: http://blog.pixoto.com/category-descr...

    Specifically this part:

    "Photography Photoshop/Post Processing Rules

In an effort to find the best, and most striking imagery, extensive use of Photoshop or other post processing techniques is allowed in all categories. However images that look like “digital art” rather than photography should be categorized as such. "

    And this part:
"Digital Art – This includes photo montages, fantasy scenes, constructed landscapes, artificial scenes and any photo compilation that is surreal or unreal. If it isn’t even trying to look real – put it here..."

In short, we allow composition of images in all categories if they do not look unreal or surreal.
If they do look unreal or surreal then they should be submitted to Digital art category.

    I hope this helps.

  • Hello Jefferson, we allow composites in all categories, however is same element is used in images, like in case of these (same image of sky):

    http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...
    http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...

and in this case (same image of car):
    http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...
    http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...

later one belongs in Digital art category.

I will ask report team to recategorize later images from these 2 pairs.

    I hope this helps.

    • Jasenka it's not just how many he posts it's the fact that every single one is a manipulated photo, that should all be in digital art
    • I agree that a manipulated photo at any level is no longer a photograph but a piece of digital art. Sad that this is allowed.

Personally I find this the most frustrating of all Pixoto's rules. It does suck to have a really nice photograph lose to something that isn't a photograph in a competition for (wait for it) -- photographs.

i dont use photoshop ever and am very frustrated that my pics are constantly losing to pics that are. i dont mind losing to a better photographer but when the pics are not real thats a whole different story.

Lou, am surprised these pics did so well, the light looks all wrong and it is such an obvious arty creation.

    HERE
    http://community.pixoto.com/pixoto/to...
is another thread promoting the separation of photos and manipulations.

If we want to SELL pictures as stock, the designer does not want OUR manipulations, she or he will do his OWN. If you want to SELL ART, then call it art.

We should have a box to click in every upload manipulated (other than contrast, brightness, white balance tiny invisible edits like dust) or not. Which means - can it be done in LR only or do you need Xtra filters.
then in the duels the tweaked pics should duel against each other, not against PHOTOS.

I am relatively new here but the blatant tweaking really puts me off, I have done PS editing for 20 years now and pride myself in doing invisible edits with some skill. Say you got an ugly cable in a wedding pic, by all means remove it. Or a stain on the bride's dress etc.

I would like to hear from the management WHY Pixoto nowadays allows composition of images in all categories if they do not look unreal or surreal? And where's the line between real and surreal? I understand that sometimes it's hard or even impossible to distinguish between a pure photo and a composition, but come on - most of the time it's crystal clear... mainly because you really have to be extraordinary skilled in Photoshop if you want a composition to look authentic.

When I joined in 2013 there was a box you had to check for each submitted image concerning the purity of your work and I miss that box. For me Photography is Photography and Digital art is Digital art. And don't get me wrong, I appreciate both, but these two shouldn't be mixed. Basic processing of photos should of course always be allowed, but that doesn't include combining two different photos, at least not according to my opinion.

  • Anything other then a single photo not matter how much it is enhanced is a photo. When you combine two or more photos its Digital Art. I enjoy doing Digital Art and to do it right it takes more time then enhancing a photo. Its more like making a painting its not real and was fabricated like Art. With that said this is Pixoto site not mine (Augie) so they have their own interpretation which are the rules here. So if you want to play the game here on Pixoto like we all do you play by their rules.
This doesn't make it right but that's the rule.

  • One other thing I do respect purest but the truth of the matter that any professional photographer selling photos or selling instructional tutorials are photo shopping with some kind of post processing software. Their motto is " The camera makes the snapshot the photographer makes the photo" as to " the typewriter doesn't write the book the author does". Years ago the greatest photographers did their post processing in the Dark Room today the Dark Room is your computer. With that said if you want to compete with the big Boys or Girls you have to play the game the way they do to compete. I learned this the hard way with little to no success. If you shooting anything but RAW with your camera your photos are not PURE because JPEG files are all post processed in the camera for you remember your camera is a computer make corrections as you shoot.

  • Lou, I have been commenting on overprocessed images. Here is some feedback that leaves me speechless!

"Thank you for your comment. The original image was very poor due to bad weather, so I was a little challenged with HDR"
