  • I look at a few things before voting

1: Impact (what draws my eye? is it the intended subject or that funny looking, slightly out of focus tree in the background?)
2: Definition (intended subject clarity and exposure)
3: Technical execution (the harder shot to get)
4: Flair (this could be classed as originality i suppose)

I may not be the world best judge but thats basicallythe main things I look for. However, nudes and boudoir and the Abstract art categories I look at in a slightly different way before deciding.

    I'm

e.g. indifferent, undecided, unconcerned sad, anxious, confused, frustrated kidding, amused, unsure, silly happy, confident, thankful, excited

  • My set of criteria:

    1. Strict accordance to the category where it competes
Very important issue to keep the contest fair!

    2. Expression - the ability to present main motive and/or message
Natural image expression as I assume it had been on captured image.
Not an artificial post processed expression (too clear eyes, for instance)

    3. Photographic skills (not photo processing one)
The way the light is introduced to sensor / film.
Experienced eye can read it even without EXIF data (not seen in duels).

    4. Originality - must be, however hard it is to practice it
What good there is in witnessing hundreds of similar images that you forget three seconds after voting in duel?

  • I look first if it's in the right category. The photo may be good but if it's in the wrong category, I don't vote for it

Originality - I don't like to vote for a picture I've seen hundreds of time already

Light - a good lighting can make an image, very important

    Quality of the image
and... for photoshopped or HDR pictures, the processing is also important
