Remote posting Plancast events as blog entries

In addition to the widget to list my events on my wordpress blog I would love to have Plancast use XML-RPC to remote post my events directly as blog posts.

Hey Peter, thanks for the suggestion -- we hadn't actually thought of that one before. I'm not sure how quickly we'll be able to get around to implementing XML-RPC given our current to-do list but that's certainly a neat use case. Is there any way to set up RSS so that it's piped into your blog (not sure how that'd work, but might be a temporary solution)? We also have an API if you wanted to hack something more custom together:

    • I've looked at the "Calendar feed" in Google Calendar and those records contain all the relevant info about each event. So perhaps the RSS feed omission of event location and date/time is a configuration error at Plancast?
    • Yea, the RSS feed is a bit wonky right now; there are several ways in which it should be improved. We should include the place and datetime information for the event at a minimum, as you suggest.

Not sure what the best tags are to use -- Coit Tower Fri, 15 Oct 2010 20:08:49 +0000 Fri, 16 Oct 2010 20:08:49 +0000

      How's that work for you?

Anything would be better than nothing ;-) What you suggest is a good start. But replicating what you save on the event entry screen (including any link) would be better. However expanding the location field to include the full location information as a text string (place name, street address, city, state) or at least the city and state, would be best.

What would be even better is, if I post an event to Facebook, Meetup, Eventbrite, etc..., instead of each RSS creating it's own post, they get combined into a single event with links to RSVP through any of the different services. Then, list ALL the RSVPs through plancast, if possible. I NEED this feature. Please help.
