M800 Windows 7 USB drivers for Samsung Studio or BitPim ?

I just got a Samsung SPH-M800 from PlatinumTel. Apparently Plat-Tel does a few mods to the standard firmware...

I downloaded and installed the "Samsung New PC Studio" app on my Windows 7 PC. Version 1.5.1.10064_2.

This should have installed USB drivers, etc, etc. But my M800 is not recognized.

Anyone got this working? How? The M800 always shows up as "Unknown Device" in Windows7. With "Manufacturer: Unavailable", Model number: Unavailable.

Looks to me like Plat-tel hacked the USB support to make this difficult?

I thought that normally, even if you don't have any drivers, you will see some identifying information, so that Windows can locate the proper drivers.

Also, I do have Bluetooth working, both for file browsing/pushing AND for Modem, But Studio won't connect via Bluetooth.

    To partly answer my question. You must remove any micro-SD memory card.
    Then re-boot/off/on the phone and plug into a pc USB port. (On my PC, it didn't seem to recognize correctly until I tried a different USB port, but I could be wrong about that detail.) Once I did that, voila- the phone's USB connection was recognized as a modem and two com ports assigned. One as a regular USB serial modem and the other as a "diagnostic". Windows 7 "picked" up some flavor of 64 bit Samsung drivers that I had downloaded and installed, probably with New PC Studio, but I'm not sure, since I tried some other sources ...

    BUT I'm not out of the woods yet, BITPIM (1.0.7) failed to communicate with the phone..., it did not see any "phone info" nor the file system - which is what I was primarily looking for upload/download.

    I can't get my computer to recognize my Samsung phone either. I've tried different usb ports, cables, drivers, rebooting. unmounting/remounting and formating the microSD card...all to no avail.

    If anyone's come up with a resolution to this problem, please share it.

    May I just add that Platinumtel's service is inconsistent at best. Occasionally I get someone who's helpful, but most of the time, they're clueless and/or rude, or both
