I’m excited

Daily Players and new stuff

More than once I have seen on these support pages about only a few play Diner Life daily. I decided to take a poll. I do realise that this is just a small sample of the DL universe. I knew that the daily players was going to be a lot, but this was more than even I suspected.
Many of the ones who do not play daily do not simply as there is nothing for them to do. A lot of my friends that quit, quit because of one, nothing new, and two the new restricitions on game play. I am in hopes that support will be adding stuff sooner rather than later to help bring some of the weekly players back more often and to keep others from quitting as well.
Let me share here the responses to my poll.

Out of 148 responses,
134 of them said they play MORE than once a day:

  • Thanks for this information. We do like to encourage daily players, however the term 'Selection Bias' applies in this case, we can tell from our database that the proportion is way lower than answered this poll.

    We are very well aware that new drive through orders etc will help improve the situation, and are working to add some more 'soon'.

    • i would like to add, things take time to create, and develop.
      playdemand are a small company and i believe {as was stated a new guy was due to start, to speed things up} they are growing.
      yes we do need more 'new' content, what ever that be, but there are others that still have things keeping them going.
      i think the issue is, when new content is added, most people are mighty fast to get it all completed as fast as they can, they do not pace themselves {that too would be a percentage of course}
      i do however think there are many players playing daily, but that too can be with longer dishes, less coins, ect.. change when they constantly play, and some are only doing longer dishes and not returning until they are ready to serve.
    • exactly Chrissy...when u have people cooking dishes that take 2 days or they dont have enough coins to buy items its then that food is put on daily from the gift box and coins collected ....i had to wait for a few days to get enough coins to expand my diner. There r tons of people who play this game and whether its daily or every other day....we r diner friends

    I play everyday, several times a day. I help out with Orders when I can but since there are no Orders for me to do the only reward I get is the satisfaction of seeing someone complete their order in time. All the side quests are done so just working on dish mastery and being a helper.

  • I play every day, and would love to see new drive-thrus come out. Mine are all caught up, but am helping others to get theirs done now. Would love to see new goals, and also one-click cooking on all appliances.
    I love how it is easier to clean stoves now with the help, and now the option of canceling out names, when they quit cooking for a drive-thru. Thanks for putting that in!
    Will be playing till you turn out the lights on me!
    Thanks for all your hard work in making this game enjoyable!

  • I m working on Sugar Surprise.. Have 3 more to go.. Then I can be one of the many helpers for the Newbies as well as some that are behind us..
    I play 8 or more hours daily in intervals of my daily living chores. We all have Real lives of course besides the Virtual ones.
    Some of my great Friends I have on DL now have become that source ,mainly , because I am in the habit of chatting with those I have accepted .. It's a great way of earning trust and finding the TRUE honest reliable friends that will stick with you the rest of the Journey with the orders. And beyond.
    We All have seen many junkie abusers that we end up doing Most of the order w/o much participation on their part.
    If some kind of life situation happens, which , we all deal with..Mother Nature,Storms -power outages etc.. It is helpful note that we encourage others to find another Internet connection elsewhere and post a Broadcast that they aren't able to play.. As I have done in the past.. This is a communication to alert others who may be helping with an order , that, we haven't gone lazy, or ,thought's of an abuser. Just Sayin.. Hope this is helpful information and advice ?

    Seriously,
    i have to update what a few players are saying on the group that i created, monitor, and admin, that amy took the poll on.
    It is a pinned poll post we have on our group elliot, and members have left comments on that, some recent comments i will post here which i think players are crying out for more coins/customers coming in, as well as 'something' to do.

    so;
    Ken said; Going to quit if things dont change , I don't mind helping people but sooo boring !!!!

    Amy responded to Ken , and said; that was exactly what Al Landon was telling support today. not that she would quit, but people who are caught up and tired of nothing to do but help others. I mean, i like to help others, but you can only be a helper for so long before you grow tired of it

    Sue said; I originally said that I play several times a day but the way my diner is going I will be forced to quit in two days time. In just under a week I've gone from 400.000 coins to just under 39.000. I've just served today's efforts and had just over 58.000 coins before I did so. Serving and selling off the higher price dishes has seen my coins drop further.

    Kristal said; I play when I want to be thonking about quiting due to everything is cash and I don't really have any. And I agree Cafeland is a lot more realistic

    Joan said; it is becoming very boring now

    Erin said; I have been playing Cafeland for a long time, and if you want to talk about boring, there it is. There was a very long period of time with nothing to do. Then they came out with quests (Lately it's been about every other week) that are so BORING and ridiculous and the same thing over and over and over. (Click on customers to hear their opinions, clean floors, ask neighbors for this or that) You have 12 days to complete the quest but it only takes a few hours to get through them all. And then....you get the lamest rewards and it costs you a bundle of hearts to complete the quests. (Charge cafe kit, etc) I rarely use cafe kits. I have truly lost my spunk for the game, I think the big reward being a Sumo wrestler statue a few weeks ago really did me in. I still play, but lost my spunk for this game. Oh, one more thing, the Traffic challenges....I'm sorry but I am not sitting and cooking 10 second hamburgers or some other short term food over and over and over to win more lame prizes. I would question my sanity sitting at my computer for hours and hours to cook thousands and thousands of short term foods. My spunk is gone for Cafeland, for sure. Diner Life has been refreshing for me.
    Sorry for the rant, sigh

    TO conclude, erin was saying that dl for her is refreshing this is great to hear this i'm sure you'll agree :)
    others however seem to have an issue with coins, or nothing new, yet before the drive thru's, the game was okay but yet no-one i can see really kicked up the fact that there was not any 'new' content to keep them busy, they plodded along and just played the game, cooked as and when, ect...

    BUT did this mean also that there was not daily players?
    Did the drive thru's create more daily players?
    Or was it more the fact that with the CW game closing that more players headed over?
    either way, i'm not sure what this entails in line of daily players now...

    But i feel many players that are daily once they have completed the goals, orders, will help for a time frame but then will not stay playing as much as before, as they are getting as they say often bored.

    FOR me, personally i LOVE the game, i enjoy the time i play, i love the simple things, like watching the food cook, every dish near enough has something different, it changes when applied through the cooking stages on appliances, it then changes once cooked.
    I LOVE the fact that the ovens for an example changes, the food that you put in, like american flag cakes, turn into flags, that just blows my mind how great that is, you did A GREAT JOB.
    I also just love that the game is... its just things work, you set it how you want it, you design it to your taste, you control the game, its your game and you play it your way. if you wish to take on the goals, and orders you can, but no force to.. for me its the feeling that its not in control, and i can play as and when i wish, this makes the experience for me better, and personally i do play MORE so much more than once or twice a day.
    • I do play more then once a day , i actually am on here all day , i am level 136 , mind u the first 100 was just cooking then the Drive thru's came along and killed my boredom . Now I am back to just cooking or helping someone . Which is boring again ,

      You guys do a great job like Chrissy said , and I understand u only hear grief . But in all retrospect can you create little activities for us to do ?

      Or point us in the direction of another game till u can get this one going again , I promise I'l come back , because I enjoy the game .

      Thank You
      Ken Lukasik

  • I like your post Chrissy :-)

    But unfortunately I have to say the same that Sue said - my cook (myself, lol) will have to be laid off in a day or two, as I ́m running out of coins sooooo fast by cooking every day.

    So, even though I would love to play every day, I am forced to become an occasional player, being able to cook only when I made enough coins to buy the dishes I want to cook.

    The only fun I will get from this game in the future seems to be coming into the diner only to put more dishes on the serving tables........

    Very boring and sad

  • I enjoy the game. and while it does remind me in some ways of cw, i like the things that are different. My fear... yea fear, is that all these great friends that i have met will be quitting soon as they are bored or unhappy. I do not want to see that happen. I am as vocal here as i am to try to help keep this game not only going, but to help it get even better. i play no other game. so i am here sometimes hours at a time, multiple times a day.

  • Rosythesecond. You should always be able to generate a profit through everything you cook; Obviously some of your coins will be tied up in the cooking items/serving tables, however you will eventually be able to get those coins back.

    Picking the correct consumables to cook can make a huge difference to how fast you make coins...

  • I understand what you mean Elliot, and I will generate a profit out of what I cooked.

    But that will take time, and while waiting for the profit to come, I won ́t be able to cook any new dishes.

    If I can only have enough coins to cook daily by cooking only the high priced dishes, not cooking the lower priced dishes at all, the game is no fun anymore.

    I have played daily for months now, but as of tomorrow I am forced by the system to become 1 of your majority players, an occasional player only.

    Leaves me with free gaming time I can now invest into becoming addicted to another game..........
    • Commented on your other post,

      you can cook and serve what you wish,

      its whether you wish to play statistically {this is what was posted, and i agree this can change how things are played and can enhance your play, its whether or not you wish to play this way}

      playing strategically, you actually would benefit greater,
      i think this would mean the following;
      1} lots of friends, gift lots, get them to send the parts, so you can get a return in coins,
      2} grab your daily cash, and buy tables and cooking appliances from neighbours, or with cash this will save some coinage ...
      3} put higher foods only out
      and only cook highest foods
      4} maybe even sell what you no longer need
      5} also not bother decorating, as theres no benefit to that...
      it does not matter if you have the cheapest chairs, they do the same thing as the most expensive so stick with the cheapest
      6} make milkshakes from the machine, this is a greater return on coins that the food sells at
      7} be sure to have games machines, pool tables, dragon gong, these are coin raisers too ;)
      8} limiting the serving tables, with higher priced food can generate more coins.

      Now you may not agree with all that i post there, but thats more strategy playing, as said you need not do that and can play the game, ANY way you wish to :)
      was mealy pointing out what i feel is strategic playing as i know one of the employees did point out this could work, and yes it really could if chosen to play this way.

      {only cooking the higher priced foods MAY KEEP YOU AWAY FROM THE GAME, For longer periods at a time :( , great for work commitments tho, or if you cannot get online, or play every few days, if you are doing 2 day dishes,
      IF YOUR A DAILY PLAYER ~ would suggest 1 days or less if you wish to cook daily still, or do a percentage of Both }
      {however the more friends this can cause loading issues}
      {only cooking the higher foods, you would never master the lower priced foods}

But it would be nice if we can get some dishes that don't take as long and on quest if we can not have so many dishes that require the soda machine and the work top at the same time. Also if we can get a new work top and serving table evey level up or every other level up.

    I used to log in several times a day. But there really is no point in playing a game when it is boring because there is nothing to do.
    There is not just a need for new drive through missions, but a real need for normal missions too. Most games put out new missions weekly at minimum. This game puts out very few, not a good sign to players who see this as an old Zynga thing, lack of new missions meant the game was soon going to disappear.
    I have found that many of my neighbours no longer play because they are bored and have moved on elsewhere because they do not want to play another game, waste money by spending to buy better items when they do not feel that there is any input into the game from the developers by way of new weekly missions and drive through' s etc. The three most annoying things for me are:
    Lack of missions / drive through's, we need one click cooking and the cook with ADHD who constantly wanders off. These issues are annoying many players big time I can assure you. When I am in a hurry to get out the door in the morning, do you think I am going to log in and put some stuff on to cook when I know it is going to stress me out totally with the time it takes with three click cooking and a cook with ADHD? but then again all that is irrelevant with nothing to cook because there is a lack of consistency with the game by way of throwing one or two new drive through's in then nothing for months.
    Until there is some organization by the developers releasing weekly missions on the same day every week and making much needed changes I think I will be losing a lot more neighbours. In a nut shell shape up or more players will be shipping out in droves.

  • I agree with your post Tracey, and I just love the way you described the cook.

    It's been bothering me for a long time already, and seeing the cook as having ADHD will make me smile now while watching him :-)

    I suppose we're meant to love it when we put dishes on and the cook stands in front of the stove, not knowing whether he should or should not work, then wanders off to some other place to come back look at the stove again to decide whether yes or no he should finally do what he's supposed to.

    What you did not mention was the fact that many other issues remain unsolved and/or unanswered by the support team, which also makes players ship out.

    I suppose that in a very short while there won't be any daily players left anymore.

    And occasional players won't complain about problems much, as they won't notice the malfunctions the few times they play a week or month.

    Yes Brigitte, this game is good and really has potential to be great. It is only the lack of input by the developers that is holding it back and losing them both players and money. Why on earth open a game if you do not want it to reach its full game play and earning potential is beyond me. I know there is only a small development team and this is the problem with support and development. We do not ask for huge changes, but missions must be made a priority if they want to survive, along with the other annoying bits I mentioned above. I think just these small improvements would make players stay and support the game.
    • you are completely right, they are a small company.

      Things take time to develop. :)
      the support team work for play demand and they have also asked for any constructive input from players that would improve the daily quota.

      So if you can think of any other ideas i'm sure they will take a look at them :)

  • One other thing is the restrictions they recently put into the game. This is fine when all is working as it should but the developers seem to have forgotten the BIG issue with the drive through's. How do they expect us to complete them when we cannot fill our helper places up due to a glitch that has been there for months? I can only get 4 helpers out of a possible 18 due to this glitch. So how do you complete with restrictions and glitches? Why are restrictions implemented before glitches are fixed? Another BIG reason for your lack of daily log ins, players are FED UP.
    • view 1 more comment
    • The problem is when you are out the door at 6 am four days a week for university lectures to 96 Latin students and not getting home until 7 pm and feeling exhausted and with other things to do at home, you want to jump into your game and do what has to be done. You do not want to have to contend with deleting friends etc when you should not have to because the game should work as it is meant to, or at least be fixed after all this time.
    • tracey, you raise a fair point.
      we hope the fix comes soon, as it effects many players, and very often.
      those that still have the orders need helpers :)

  • Right Tracey, I also believe in the potential.

    But I think that it is very difficult to support a game when players do not get any answers when they report a problem. I read what is being posted on the support wall, and noticed people reporting a problem they have up to 5 or 6 times within weeks without ever getting an answer. I'm pretty sure that those people stop playing the game, no matter how many missions are being added.

    Even a small team should be able to at least acknowledge that they read what problems players have, even if they do not know or do not have the manpower or time to resolve the problem.

    I don't think that any of us players come here to face game playing problems, we play for distraction, and if a game does not give us that distraction we go looking for another game that will, don't you think so too?

    I know that new missions would be distraction too, but only if the actual problems would be resolved.

    Yes there is a big problem with the lack of responses to posts and the time it takes for a response when you do actually get one. If a game does not work properly and you get no response from support, you are not going to come back. But when a problem is reported (such as the drive through glitch above) and it is acknowledged it still does not get fixed. I have had the problem since I started playing as have many other players. Support response, a game that gives you something to do when you log in, and the fixing of glitches all need addressing.

  • Hi everyone. Thanks for the feedback, we try to answer everyone's queries or problems when we can; and try to update the game to keep it fresh where possible.

    If people have specific issues that they want resolving please post in specific threads for them, or create new ones when the request is not there.

    I've created a F.A.Q on the wiki:

    http://dinerlife.wikia.com/wiki/Frequ...

    I will look to update it with any common requests that people have.
