I’m just thinking

email a tweet or link

Hard though it is to believe, some of my friends and contacts do not have any social networking accounts, but in the course of my pluggioing activities, I come across content that I know will interest them. It would be handy if at the same time as tweeting, I could send them an email of the content (or a link to my tweet). There is no option in ping.fm as far as I am aware to "post" to an email address (only to post to ping.fm from email).

Just a thought, perhaps no one else has this need.

I could see me using such a feature to send emails/links to myself (i.e. my own email accounts) in some cases.

  • Hum.

For it to be consistent with the existing options provided by ping.fm which are presented in either the box at the top right or at the bottom or the pop up box for individual tweets IIRC, it would need to be an active icon next to the tick boxes that leads to an additional dialogue box (as per the "schedule specific time" options).

The pop-up box would allow you to enter a simple list of email addresses. As the application is not intended to be an email application, then taking this further and maintaining mail lists would not be a good direction in my view.

I do appreciate UI wise it is not good to have an icon that behaves differently from the other icons. On the other hand, if it was in a different location, it would be out of context.

It would also be interesting to add the email option to the set of active icons that pop up when you hover over an avatar in the stream (in addition to the reply, reply all, dm, etc. icons).
