Feature request: API

Con organizers who want feedback for speakers can pre-enter the talk data into speakerrate to make it easier for attendees to rate... but for large cons (like this year's PyCon - over 100 talks and tutorials), nobody's going to do it by hand. if we could use a script against an API to enter the talks, it would become very plausible.

The API could cover just talk creation, leaving ratings, events, and event series for hand-entry.

This is a great idea, Catherine – thanks for submitting it! We'll talk it over as a team, and I'll let you know if its status changes.

Hm, looks like there might be some useful prior art for just such an API http://sched.org/api

You aren't, by any chance, on the verge of releasing an API? Perhaps a beta that PyCon could test for you? Our tutorials start tomorrow, so the time is now now now...

Unfortunately we don't have the API queued up and ready to go. However, we may be able to help you out with a mass import if you can send us a specially formatted CSV of your talk data. If you're interested in this, please send an e-mail to info at speakerrate dot com, and we'll see what we can work out.

Here's a little info on an ad-hoc read-only API. It's not for creating, but it can help pull the content out once it's in there.

I'd like to bubble this one up again as I think it would be incredibly useful to have the following:

* Speaker Search
* Event Search
* Series Search
* Add/Edit Talk/Event/Series/Speaker

I've been working on a PHP Class to wrap a lot of these functions and do the work via CURL, but it would be much better to have an actual API.

PyCon 2010 is coming up quick. Is there any more progress to report? The read-only API isn't much help to us for the purpose of automatically getting our 100+ talks set up with speakerrate pages. Thanks!

Yes, having a complete API to enter event and talk information would be great. This would allow seamless integration with event sites to fully manage the speaker and talk data for the event using SpeakerRate rather than their own custom solutions. The benefit for organizers is that it means less work. The benefit for speakers is that it lets them use a single (and consistent) profile for their speaking engagements and keep all of the feedback together.

Any updates for an API? It's been a long time (3+ years!) since this had any activity.
