I have an issue of no sidebar showing up. I searched for this issue in the forum and some suggest that there is a button between + and - buttons, but as you can see from the uploaded screenshot, I have no such button to press either.

What is wrong?

Hi M,

Are you using the online editor or Prezi Desktop? Try just clicking the space between + and -

Hi B,

I am using online editor. There is no button to press anywhere close to + or -. In fact, even the tool layout is different from the online manual screenshots or youtube tutorials. The path thumbnails are shown at the bottom of the screen, not on the left side of the screen.

In fact, I have discovered something interesting. I made another user id and when I log on to Prezi website using that ID, the sidebar is there and path thumbnails appear on the left side of the screen. But when I log on to Prezi website (from the same PC) with the previous user ID, again there is no sidebar and path thumbnails appear at the bottom. So it seems like the Prezi editor is different depending on which ID I log on with.

How did that happen?

Hi M,

This is very strange. Can you send the url of one of your prezi's from the account that has the strange tool layout.

Here you go.

Yes very strange indeed. If you look at the first screenshot I attached, you can see that the menu on the top left of the screen even has a big "+ Add" editor button for me to add an object, which on a normal screen would appear as a "add" button in a sidebar.

Hi M,

I've tried with several accounts to recreate what you are viewing and I cant. It's very strange.

What I can suggest to you is to delete the account, then recreate it. If there is a prezi you are working on, click share on the bottom right, and send an editable link to yourself. Log out of that account, and into your other account. You should then be able to open the link and save as a copy. Then delete the account that is not working well.

Sorry for the strange problem. Wish I knew what was causing it.

Hi thank you for your help. I am not working on anything important with that account anyway so no need to save anything. In fact, I am happy to keep this account for the novelty of it. I can explore this editor style to see if it's better.

This strange editor is obviously something someone at Prezi is/was working on as a prototype of an alternative editor view. It just somehow ended up linked with my account. I say someone is/was working on it because this alternative editor has a proper structure of having a "Add" button in the "bubble" menu in the top left corner and the path thumbnails showing up properly at the bottom of the screen. Also when I start a blank prezi, in the "Normal" editor it has a big round + button in the middle, but in this "alternative editor", it's not there. Instead, it starts with an empty frame in the middle

See the below screenshots. From top to bottom are :
1. Initial screen if I start with a new blank prezi (no round + button but a frame instead)
2. Using the "add" button in the bubble menu
3. Path menu selected with path thumbnails at the bottom.

One more difference I noticed is that when I start a new prezi in this "alternative" editor, it only gives me 6 templates to choose from, whereas the "normal" editor it would give me a lot more template choices, including some 3D ones.

If you are a Prezi employee (as your profile photo suggests), perhaps you could ask around to see if anyone is/was working on this alternative editor.

Hi M,

Thanks for the screenshots. Now I can see exactly what you are talking about.

So far the screen shots and features shown suggest a previous version of the editor. Its strange that this has happened but if you would like to keep it as a little piece of prezi history go ahead. But it may change over a some point.

If you have any feedback since you are able to use two different versions of the editor, I'd love to hear it.

Thanks for being a great user!
B
