Cannot add sources or view source catalog

I've been using Pulse on my iPad 2 for quite some time and it has worked very well. Recently I tried to add a new source and nothing came up when searching. Even when I tried common search terms like "tech" there were no results. I tried reinstalling Pulse and now I cannot see the catalog. I am still running iOS 5.0.1. Please help, Pulse is one of my favorite applications!
