In addition to all the other problems of the feeds/pictures not loading I also noticed that if I read a post from one of my feeds obtained from Google Reader on Pulse it's not marked as read on my GReader and vice-versa.

That is because Pulse does not support two-way or bi-directional syncing. I would like to request this feature as well.

I'm 100% positive that you're incorrect. I just tired syncing both ways:
1 item unread in Pulse. I read it in Google Reader on my desktop, refresh Pulse and it is now read in Pulse.
1 item unread in Google Reader on my desktop, I read it in Pulse on my phone, refresh Google Reader on the desktop and it is read.

This was a feature added in the most recent update and is in the release notes of the application on the Android Market.

So Eliseo, if this feature is not working for you, maybe it is because you have something configured incorrectly?

It's still not working for me. I added the feeds using "add from google reader" so I guess that should be the proper way to sync them, right?

GReader is showing 2 unread posts from a feed, I read them using Pulse on Android, hit refresh on pulse, then refresh on GReader and they're still shown as unread. Lame.

As far as I know, that's the proper way to "sync" them up. I suppose I was lucky, because when I updated Pulse, it just worked.

Maybe you need to try going to the "Add from GReader" feature in Pulse and add a feed or something. Could be that it doesn't realize you're attached to your Google Account?

well, there's a reason why this questions is tagged "android" and listed under "Pulse on Android". Please let me know when there's a new Android version, that's the only one I care about :)

Can anyone else confirm whether 2-way syncing is working/not working on Android? We haven't received any other complaints.

I can confirm it. I own pulse news app for android, and i read most of my news offline, but even when online my read items are not sync with google reader, only get it one way (reader -> pulse).

If it makes any change for you, my device is an android 1.6.

Still seeing the issue. Using both iPad and iPhone versions of Pulse, depending on the situation, and I have to constantly mark articles as read that I am sure I just marked as read.

Refreshing lists as well returns articles to a unread status... Very annoying!

I have also just noticed this happening having logged into my Google reader account and noticed that I have over 300 unread articles. I've just read a bunch of feeds in Pulse and although it syncs between my iPhone and iPad, Google reader still shows the articles as unread.

Hi Cloud Dweller. Were you actually tapping on the stories or just scrolling past them? Pulse does not mark as read if you only scroll past an article.

No I was tapping on the stories both on my iPhone and iPad. It looks like it's a little arratic. Sometime it works other times it does. Also I've had it where I feed a bunch of feeds on my iPad by tapping and when I come to my iPhone it starts with the stories read and then unmarks them one by one.

It works pretty good for me, at first I tought there wasn't a 2-way syncing between GReader and Pulse but after reading, staring, and marking as not readed some items I can see that it's fully working (at least online, haven't tried to check my feeds offline.
Just two recommendations: Could you please make the unreaded items more visible? Sometimes I get lost with the images and can't see a big difference between a readed and a not readed item
Also, could you make bigger widgets? A 4x2 with at least 2 feeds and a 4x4 would be great! (also, if you make them scrollable in some launchers could be possible to get more feeds in less space, by scrolling down, also you could scroll left/right as in the app)
Thanks, excelent app and please keep the good work! :)

@Cristina,
Hi,
I'm using Pulse version 1.2 for iPhone 4.2.1. As reported by other users, I'm also having problems with google reader sync. After reading an item in Pulse (and seeing it grey out), the item will reappear as unread the next time I refresh.

Thanks for the free app, I'm a huge fan. I hope I can get this issue resolved so that I never have to use a web based reader again.

I tried with version 2.0 on the xoom, and it is still not working. That is, read items in Pulse are not marked as read in google reader.

Update done and the Google Reader sync is back and works pretty well except one thing: when I go from a page to another or return from the setup page, I have to manually refresh to update the read/unread status, it is not saved.

Samsung Vibrant on 2.2, the Google Reader sync wasn't working, but now it is? It might have something to do with restarting your phone after you add a source that's more than just a feed (GR, Facebook). I actually accidentally solved my Reader sync issues by trying to fix my Facebook feed, after adding it for the first time.

I've been using Pulse for a month-ish, but I never really used Facebook or Google Reader because when I added them, they never seemed to work, so I removed them. But today, I decided to try Google Reader again (and also Facebook) after reading on Lifehacker that Pulse supported Google Reader sync. Sure enough, after adding Facebook and logging in, Facebook didn't work. Additionally, after signing in and adding Lifehacker and Engadget from Reader to Pulse, Reader sync didn't work. So, I figured that I might as well restart my phone to see if it helped. Surprisingly, it helped.

So, if you're having trouble with the sync, try adding the feeds from Reader to Pulse, then restarting your phone. YMMV

Hi,

Glad Google Reader works for you! If the app tries to sync with Google Reader and fails due to a connection issue, it will try again later so after adding a feed from Google Reader it should start syncing.

Does Facebook work for you? If not, what appears when you try to add it and log in?

Best,
Albert
