How about Pulse App for the Mac itself? That way I can post straight from it to the Pulse/Posterous feed and abandon Google Reader for good.

I'm extremely eager for your app and I think quite some people are. Maybe you could make an open beta before (iPads Reeder has done so for the Mac version). I would also be open to test it ;-)

Really hoping we will have a pulse mac app or web app soon. I LOVE the iPhone application. It has changed the way I receive news entirely and is by far the best RSS reader out there. I would love to be able to use it on my macbook air as well as its pretty annoying only being able to read on an iPhone because that is all it is available for (well at least that I own). I love this product and definitely do not want to switch. Hope a mac or web app is available soon!!

Thanks so much!

Thanks Anthony! We'll do our best to bring Pulse to new platforms as soon as we can.

Best,
Karen

Wow... I can't believe how long it has taken. Literally a year ago someone asked about this here and you said that it was being worked on. It seems clear that you have a customer base for a Mac version of Pulse. I would also love it. I don't need anything more than a direct port of the iPad app on my screen. People will give you money... just hire someone on freelancer.com to do the coding if you can't do it in-house.

If in fact you are working on this, please provide a timeline as to when we might see it. I am considering a couple of alternatives that have iphone, ipad, and mac support. I would rather give you my money if there is actually a mac product coming out.

I've already purchased PULP. It's works really well on my Mac and has a great UI for desktop and non-touch interfaces.

All of you on here shouldn't hold your breath for a Mac version of Pulse. There are better alternatives out there for your desktop.

I got too.... I get used to Pulse, and now when i see the rss with Notification "1,2,3" unread (like mail) it is what i don`t like! You must check all, or chose "Mark all read". The idea in Pulse better - all source in horizontal line, all in left is new - simple, cleaver! It will be nice if in Mountain Lion i can see Notification Centre Push about new news from Pulse!
Pulp is expensive looks bed on air 11, and more important for me - is another idea to read RSS!

I got Reeder because I was sick of waiting. I'm half way trough C++ and Objective C already, maybe I can rebuild pulse at the end for OSX and that'll be like a record or something "user tired of waiting build the requested app by himself".

Official Response
Hi Everyone,

My name is Karen and I'm the community manager at Pulse. You may have read some of my responses as I've been working my way around Get Satisfaction in the last couple of months.

I'd like to share that the Pulse team has taken note of everything you're all saying. We would love to give you features in the blink of an eye but we want to make sure that when we release a feature, it's thoughtful and consistent with our mission of bringing you content in an elegant and efficient manner. Our team is around 15 people strong and we're continuing to add more developers to answer your requests. (You can check out some of our new hires at our blog: blog.pulse.me). Considering our size, it's important for us to prioritize features which is why source syncing was released several weeks ago. We're setting up some features for a big plan, one that we hope will answer these requests you're sharing.

The best ETA I can give you is more a measure of how valuable this feature is and it is a major priority. We value the community's feedback and we want to hear more from you so please continue the discourse. You can add more thoughts here or email me at feedback@alphonsolabs.com.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and of course, for using Pulse--we appreciate the support.

All the best,
Karen

PS - @sidebox: Thanks for the offer! It's very kind of you :)

Hello Karen,

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I absolutely agree that you should not be expected to just jump at every suggestion and release as quickly as possible. The issue is that this was first brought up at the beginning of this thread a year ago and Christina Cordova expressed that this was being worked on. A year is a long time for the development of a news aggregator that is essentially a port from an already existing application on a different operating system (this is not to trivialize the amount of work and time required to release a sound and fully functioning application)

I will give it some more time before I purchase an alternative, but unless there are some updates or some actual signs of progress, I will end up switching to an alternative like Pulp. This is one of the last apps/features on my phone and ipad that does not sync with with my Mac.

Thanks again. I hope to continue supporting your team.

I have used PULP for about a month now and WOW – this is so much better than Pulse. To all you people dreaming about Pulse to come to Mac OS X: Stop waiting for the dinosaurs to return, and start using PULP. This is the way newspapers will be from now on.

UGH, i have no problem spending the 9.99 on PULP but I don't want to reinvent the wheel.

Today for the first time, I realized I NEED pulse on my MAC. I went to the pulse.me site and was SHOCKED to see i couldn't see any of my content.

What am I missing, is there no web version of my pulse?

I'm subscribed to this thread, and it makes me laugh every time I get updates when new replies comes in. Well, one thing is certain and that is Pulse for Mac will NEVER materialize. Despite the promises by Pulse staff themselves, it's been a year since this thread started and we still have nothing. I read Pulse on my iPhone daily, and I would still love to get one on my Mac, but I wouldn't bet a dollar on it. It's very disappointing to say the least.

Paul, we are working on something that we hope will be well received. Our team is small but we're updating Pulse and adding new features as best as we can. Please do continue to give feedback because we listen to those.

Pulse fo mac? Wonderful. but the risk is that if you do not study well the structure can become trivial. So, take the time you need.

With the elimination of RSS reader in the new Mountain Lion Mail and Safari, I imagine this would be a good time for Pulse to hurry up and launch your Mac version...

Seriously? I feel badly for Karen.. She has to keep answering these posts with her best game face. Multiple years on the development of this? Wow. If (read as never) this ever comes out, it will probably cure cancer. Hate to dog you guys, since the app is such a great tool... But not posting any response to this thread would have been the way to go... Then when this comes out in 2019, people would have been pleasantly surprised.

+1 to this as well. I'll gladly pay for it.

Whatever you do, for the love of god, please watch your dependencies. There are *so* many OSX apps out there that require discrete graphics cards to run non-stop. This causes a dramatic drop in battery life and turns my 15" macbook pro into a crotch toaster.

Please, pretty please, get gfxCardStatus and make sure you are not an offender before you release. In fact, everyone reading this should go download it *right now*. If more people knew which apps were killing their battery life, this problem would solve itself eventually.

I won't use Sparrow, Read Later, Twitter, and a few other apps because of this problem. I even own the paid version of Sparrow and have become a staunch advocate for it's abandonment until the problem is resolved.

Hahaha. Welcome to this thread. It's like a Stephen king book. They're coming out with it really really soon, promise. 2 years ago it will be released!

I'm half kidding... I'm still hopeful that at some point they'll get it done as well.

Its a shame this has not been released yet. I use pulse on my iPad and iPhone and it rocks.

Its a bit weird there's been so many requests, and so many answers pasted from a template to this.

Hope it comes out soon, but I would not hold my breath on this.

What i'd like on the web version is no outside advertising of anykind. like on its main interface. the only branding i want to see is pulse. no icon related to any other company in anyway. A clean interface = innovative design, To do otherwise would just look cheap / tacky and would diminish the overall quality of your product.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We hear what you're saying however the IE icon is present because Pulse has established a partnership with Microsoft.

We'll certainly take your thoughts into consideration as in our next design steps.

Hi Ruiwy1,

Thanks for the follow up! We've been working hard on some exciting that we know users will not be disappointed with and we're launching this summer. We ask your patience.

Please let us know in the meantime what kind of features you'd like to see if or when we push out a web version.
